News from Dr. Holcomb
Our ISASP testing has gone well thus far. We have finished our testing and are just working on proctoring the make-up tests for students that were absent. We appreciate your help in making sure your students got a good night sleep and in getting them to school on time. We should be able to get testing information back more quickly this year so stay tuned for information on how to access them.
You have probably seen the District messages about free lunches ending after this school year. While this is true in many respects, it is not true for all buildings. The legislation that came out during COVID that provided those free lunches is ending which prompted the District messages. However, Bryant has been designated as Community Eligible which means our Free and Reduced percentages meet a certain threshold that allows our students to still receive free lunches. These are connected to the sheets that we ask all families to fill out every fall. There is always a possibility that our numbers will drop and we could lose this status, but there is nothing to indicate this will happen for next year. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.
I would like to remind everyone about the RAPTOR system the District implemented as an additional safety measure in schools. The roll out was interrupted by COVID so many of you have not had the opportunity to experience this process. As our schools are open to visitors now, I want to walk you through the process. All visitors to the building will need to enter through the main doors on Jones Street. IF you are intending on entering the building where our students are located, you will need to have a driver's license or other form of ID with you. The office staff will ask to see this ID and will run it through the RAPTOR system. The RAPTOR system will scan a variety of data bases and ultimately determine whether you are able to enter the building. The system will print a sticker that includes your name, potentially a photo depending on what type of ID you brought, and the location that you are planning to visit (classroom, lunchroom, etc). When you have finished your visit, you will return the sticker to the main office so that we can log you out of the system so we know you have exited the building.
If you are just coming to the office for a meeting or to pick up your student from the nurse's office or for another purpose, you do NOT need to go through the RAPTOR process. This pertains only to visits where you will be in the building with our students. We appreciate your understanding as the main focus of this process is to keep all our students safe. This process is the same across all elementary buildings within the District.
We have accumulated a significant amount of items in our lost and found. If you would like to stop in and take a look, please let the office know.
Thank you for partnering with us! And thank you to everyone that helped make this last week a great Staff Appreciation week for our crew! We had a lot of fun!

Communication and Preparedness
Student and staff safety is of paramount importance in the Sioux City Community School District. For this reason, the District exercises a host of crisis prevention and planning tactics. Should an emergency occur, the school notifies you through our Blackboard phone system. In an emergency, the system calls every phone number associated with your child in order to reach you. The message will give you details about the emergency and provide directions on when/where to pick up your child if the normal school day is altered. Learn more about school safety.
