On May 19, LFHS Art Teacher Mrs. Niki Stage passed away following a medical emergency earlier this month. Mrs. Stage's obituary may be found here.
Mrs. Stage joined the LFHS faculty as an art teacher in 2020. With a goal of “building better communities as a practitioner focusing on the intersections of art, education, tech, and youth development,” she relished meeting LFHS students wherever they were on their learning journey.
Mrs. Stage taught classes of all levels in art, drawing, and photography. Those new to art often fell in love with painting and drawing through her teaching of Art Foundations. Aspiring artists saw her celebrated portfolio as inspirational. She illustrated her first book, Big Truck Day, during her time at LFHS. Mrs. Stage was also an entrepreneur, actively contributing to Spoonflower, a web marketplace featuring wallpaper, fabric, and home decor created by independent artists worldwide. She had planned for her Business of Fashion students to create their own designs for Spoonflower next year.
