Dear Parents/Carers,
Lots to talk about in the week where we had our first Forest School in the snow!
I have been very impressed this week by the resilience, teamwork and kindness demonstrated at Forest School in extreme weather conditions. We worked out that the only type of weather we hadn’t had was rain! A big thanks go to Mr Symes who goes out of his way to put these days on each term for the children. We are all incredibly grateful. Year 4 have also been wonderful this week. They have adapted well to the different adults in class and we celebrated them in whole school worship.
We received some exciting news at the beginning of the week regarding the proposed merger between STAR and SYMAT. To remind you there is a consultation event on 27/11 6pm at Tadcaster Grammar School in the Main Hall. This will consist of a short presentation from our CEO, Ian Yapp at 6pm followed by a chance for Q and A. We expect the formal part of the event to conclude at approximately 6.30pm. This will then be followed by informal drop-in discussion opportunities from approximately 6.30pm onwards for those of you who would rather have a one-to-one discussion. Your thoughts and views are always welcome via engagement@starmat.uk ’
You will notice a new addition to the celebrations each week in the form of the Headteacher’s Award. Staff talk to me daily about the children’s achievements – be this academic or demonstrating our values. I am going to be choosing one of those children to receive this award. This week it went to one of our youngest children for her perseverance in reading.
Mrs Harrison has also launched the Numbots/TTRockstars leaderboard challenge. The class that has been on for the most minutes after three weeks will win a prize. However, all children must have logged on for them to be successful.
Online safety is something that can be hard to keep on top of as a parent (speaking from experience). The NSPCC have shared an online workshop for parents that can be accessed here: https://youtu.be/MY5NDhvVkG4
Have a wonderful weekend,

Bella and Ollie
Congratulations to our Numbots Superstar this week Piper M!
Not very many children from KS1 have been on Numbots this week so starting next week we are going to have a league. Every minute spent playing a game on TTR or Numbots will count towards your class total. The class with the greatest total will earn points and, in three weeks, the class at the top of the league will have a special reward.
Our Rockstars of the week are Samantha D, Will G, Alex M, Tom G, Al G, Zack S and Austin B. This week's lucky raffle ticket winners were Tilly B and Piper M. Well done everyone!
