Welcome to the 2024 Fall GMA Quest Clubs Program.
It is my great privilege to present you with a variety of club options that provide enrichment for our students as we continue to develop the mind, body, and spirit of our students. It is with great pride to share the deep passions and all of the wonderful talents of the faculty, staff, and close friends of GMA that have developed these programs to share with our children.
Quest Club offerings for the Fall of 2023 are listed below. Please be sure to click the link at the bottom of this newsletter to register. Registration is due by 11:59 PM Sunday, 9/15. Students will not be able to participate in clubs until all registration is completed and full payment is submitted. All clubs are on a first come first served basis and space is limited.
Quest Clubs run on the dates listed in the offerings descriptions. Clubs run from 3:15-4:15. Pickup will take place on the green top. Students that are pre-registered may be dismissed to CARES.
Parents arriving late for pickup will have to pick their child up from CARES and will be responsible for the CARES registration fee. Please be mindful of our instructors and their time by being on time. Please direct any specific questions to the instructors offering the courses.

Maker Space: PreK- Grade 2
MakerSpace Club is the perfect place for curious young minds in grades Pre-K through 3 who love to explore, discover, and create! In this imaginative club, children will dive into a world of hands-on activities, from exciting Lego building challenges to crafting unique projects with recycled materials. Each session is an adventure, filled with opportunities to experiment, invent, and uncover new ways to bring their ideas to life. If your child enjoys exploring the endless possibilities of their creativity, MakerSpace Club is where their journey begins!

Dates: 9/30, 10/7, 10/21, 11/4, 11/11, and 11/18

Mermaid Art Studios: Kindergarten- Grade 8
Week 1:
Objective: Hand build a gnome sculpture suitable for high firing and outdoor display.
Activity: Students will learn hand-building techniques using clay to create gnome sculptures. Emphasis will be placed on durability for outdoor display.
Outcome: Each student will have their own unique gnome sculpture ready for firing.
Week 2:
Objective: Glaze the gnome sculptures using natural pigments and watercolor techniques.
Activity: Students will be introduced to natural pigments made from 100% natural dyes for glazing their gnome sculptures. They will also learn watercolor techniques to add detail and color.
Outcome: Gnome sculptures will be beautifully glazed and water colored, ready for display indoors.
Week 3:
Objective: Reinvent the concept of a trick-or-treat bag, adding creativity and personalization.
Activity: Students will brainstorm and design their own unique trick-or-treat bags, incorporating innovative features or themes.
Outcome: Each student will have a customized trick-or-treat bag, reflecting their individual style and creativity.
Week 4:
Objective: Create a 2D drawing with hidden elements, resembling a scavenger hunt.
Activity: Using leaf patterns as inspiration, students will create intricate drawings with hidden images or designs incorporated throughout.
Outcome: Students will produce detailed drawings with hidden elements, providing an engaging scavenger hunt-like experience for viewers.
Overall, these activities provide a diverse range of artistic experiences while encouraging creativity, innovation, and attention to detail.

Wiffle Ball: Grades K-4
Come out and enjoy some fun games of wiffleball!

Day: Tuesdays
Dates: 9/24, 10/1, 10/8, 10/15, 10/22, and 10/29
Cost: $180

Pins & Needles: Grades 2-8
Students will be introduced to essential terms and skills. Young stitchers will have the opportunity to work with both hand and machine sewing. Directed projects as well as independent activities are encouraged.

Wednesdays
Disney Magic: Grades PreK-3
Put on your Mickey Ears and get ready to embark on a magical adventure into the world of Disney! In our Disney Magic Club, we’ll use our imagination and STEAM skills to create enchanting crafts, play fun games, and dive into the stories and characters we all love. Each week, we’ll explore a new theme from Disney’s wonder-filled universe—whether it’s discovering the art of animation, designing our own theme park ride, or singing along to our favorite songs. Join us as we sprinkle a little pixie dust and make every moment magical!

Stories and Creations: Grades K-1
This club will enhance your child's creativity and develop their imagination through a read aloud chapter book series and hands on art work. The Magic Tree House Series by Mary Pope Osborne is about a brother and sister, Jack and Annie, who live in Frog Creek, Pennsylvania and go on time travel adventures. The books cover a range of topics, including nature, historical events, cultural traditions, and animals.

Homework Help: Grades 2-5
Homework Club offers a positive, productive and social environment where students can work alongside their peers to complete their homework and study, fostering a sense of community and teamwork. Students will engage in brain breaks and active games before receiving targeted support and diving into their work. The club will focus on: *Assistance with daily homework assignments *Reinforcing math facts, spelling words and reading comprehension skills *Developing effective study habits *Building independence

The Ping Pong Club: Grades 7-8
The Ping Pong Club will be an after school club for students in the 7th and 8th grade to not only learn the basics of ping pong, but also to have fun and compete against one another. Not only will students learn how to serve, volley, and score points but will also participate in competitions amongst their other club members to win prizes and rewards!
