PRINCIPAL'S UPDATE
Dear Eagle Crest Families,
With the sunshine sticking around a little longer each day, it finally feels like we’ve turned the corner into spring! As more of our students and families take advantage of the beautiful weather by walking and biking to school, it’s a great time to revisit some important safety reminders—especially during arrival and dismissal times.
Please help us keep everyone safe by following these simple but important guidelines in the Hug and Go lane:
🚗 Stay in the right lane – Let children out on the sidewalk side only to avoid them stepping into traffic.
🚗 Keep the flow moving – The Hug and Go lane is for quick drop-off and pick-up only. If you need more time or plan to walk your child in, please use the parking lot or street parking on Clover Basin.
🚶 Be alert at crosswalks – Watch for pedestrians and always follow the crossing guard’s directions.
🔒 Car safety matters – Colorado law recommends children under 13 ride in the back seat. Please ensure everyone is buckled up before driving away.
Thank you for doing your part to keep our students safe and to help our school days start and end smoothly. We appreciate your continued partnership and care for our Eagle Crest community!
Warmly,
Amanda

P.S.- Get ready to roll! Our 2nd Annual Eagle Crest Bike Fest is happening this Friday, April 25th from 5:00–6:30 PM right here at school. Bring a picnic blanket and dinner, and enjoy an evening of biking fun with activities like a Bike Rodeo, helmet decorating, and a Learn to Ride area for beginners. Big thanks to our PTO and volunteers for making this event possible—and if you'd like to help out, we'd love to have you!
DEAN OF STUDENTS’ UPDATE
Hello Eagle Crest Families,
As we embrace the warmth of the spring season and the final weeks of the school year here at Eagle Crest, we're reminded of the strong sense of community we share. We cherish the connections we have with each family as they arrive and leave school each day, especially as many have the opportunity to walk, bike, or scooter to school.
We'd like to remind everyone of a few important things related to the change in season and increased foot traffic at school. Firstly, we kindly ask that all families refrain from bringing pets onto school grounds during the day. This simple measure ensures the safety and comfort of everyone. Exceptions are, of course, made for service animals and police dogs, which are always welcome.
Additionally, as we navigate through the unpredictable spring weather, it's important to remember the challenge students face in keeping track of coats, sweatshirts, and extra layers. Our Lost and Found has once again filled up with these items, so we encourage everyone to stop by and claim any missing items.
Lastly, as we approach the end of the year, we remind families to secure their bikes and scooters while at school. Unfortunately, instances of items going missing have occurred in previous years, so please take a moment to lock up your bikes and scooters to ensure everything stays safe and accounted for.
Thank you for all you do to make Eagle Crest a safe and enjoyable place for every student!
All the best,
Lindsey Cheney

NEWS FROM THE LIBRARY
We have had a great year in the library reading some wonderful books. Our Battle of the Books just ended and the book “Don’t Think of Tigers” was our overall winner this year. Ask your student about the book. It had everyone laughing.
And thank you for supporting the library by helping your students get into a routine of reading at home and bringing library books back to school each week. Here are a few dates to be aware of as we get closer to the end of the school year.
Friday May 2nd - the last day to check out library books this school year. If your student is working on a project for school and needs the book a bit longer they may keep their books until the project is turned in.
Friday, May 9th - All library books need to be returned.
Friday, May 16th - Books not returned will be considered lost and will be posted for payment online via Infinite Campus.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me at beckett_joan@svvsd.org or at (303) 485-6073 ext. 22313.
Thank you for helping get books back to the library for other students to read and enjoy!

We are also currently accepting students through open enrollment, so even if a family does not live within our immediate neighborhood, they may still apply to join our Eagle Crest community.
