This month of June is celebrated annually as Pride Month. MCPS takes pride in the level of support for both students and staff that identify in the LGBTQ+ community. We have welcoming, affirming schools, classrooms, teams, and clubs. We value all of our children, youth, teachers, staff, and parents. At Eastern we focus on the message, "You love who you are and we love who you are. I love that we have that in common."

Career Day was an awesome experience for our eagles on Friday! We had visits from speakers in a variety of professions and even hosted March Elrich, MC County Executive for 1 hour. We collected feedback from our students and will use that information to plan our event next year. We thank our counseling team for leading the charge for this event!

Friday and Sunday, our talented students participated in a production of the Twelfth Night. It was a beautiful performance on the outdoor stage in the courtyard. We thank Ms. Ray and all of the community who supported this wonderful event!

On Saturday, our EagleNation musicians competed at Hershey's park. They came home with awards for their musicianship and for their professionalism during the experience. We are thankful to Ms. Baker, Mr. Nelson and Ms. Rosero for preparing the students and for being so dedicated that they took students out on this trip over a weekend!

On Wednesday, May 29, Renee Goods-Fisher from the Montgomery County Public Library (MCPL) visited Eastern’s Media Center to get students excited for the public library Summer Reading Challenge and engage their creativity making zines.

Yearbooks have arrived at Eastern Middle School! All pre-ordered books and the surplus have been completely sold out! Students still want a yearbook will be able to pre-order a yearbook prior to the end of the year. They will be ordered online and the second batch will arrive during the summer break. Details for this order will be disseminated next week.

✨🎉🦅8th Grade Promotion will be on Monday, June 10 at 10am (Doors open at 9:30am) at Kennedy High School. Each student will receive two tickets to promotion.

The PTSA will be sponsoring a post-promotion picnic at Wheaton Regional Park. Volunteers are needed for this event, please see [this link] to sign up.

RSVP Paperwork will be sent out through 8th grade advisories next week.

Dear Eastern Middle School Families,

We are excited for the upcoming 8th grade dance and promotion, and we need parent volunteers to make these events a success. Traditionally, 6th and 7th grade parents fill most volunteer roles, and we hope many will help again this year.

8th Grade Dance:

8th Grade Post Promotion Picnic:

• Date: Monday, June 10, following the 10 a.m. ceremony
