KEWASKUM DISTRICT NEWS
MESSAGE FROM THE DISTRICT ADMINISTRATOR
Some of you might have seen the large construction equipment and work being done on the KES parking lot. This has been a project that we’ve been in the process of for almost two years. The parking lot enhancements aim to better accommodate our families, enhance the efficiency of our daily operations, and most importantly, ensure the safety of our students. Here’s what you can expect:
Expanded Parking: We know parking at KES has been a challenge. Daily I’ve seen people having to park on the grass because there was a lack of parking spaces in the lot. Not only was this particularly difficult in the winter when the snow came, but it was also problematic when it rained. This solution will increase the number of parking spaces by over 30 spots, allowing for more convenient parking for families and visitors, reducing stress of finding parking during peak times.
Improved Pick-Up Process: The new layout will also allow for more efficiencies at the south side of the building during pick-up. The expanded roadway will make picking up students easier, reduce congestion, and allow for a smoother experience for everyone.
Enhanced Safety: Student safety is always a top priority. On top of the added safety from reduced congestion, this new plan will better separate the busy parking lot from the walking path for students.
The construction team has done a fantastic job making progress toward the completion goal, and we expect most of the major work to be completed by the middle of August. We appreciate your patience and cooperation during the construction period, and we are confident that this will make a positive impact on our school community.
