Hillside News Brief

Parents and Guardians:

Monday, September 21, is a professional learning day at Hillside (and in all of Westside schools). We will see you on Tuesday, September 22, back at school!

As we now add more folks to Hillside's drop-off and pick-up, I'd like to remind our community that the drop-off and pick-up procedures require patience and lots of rule-following! It is important that drivers stay in their vehicle and pull all the way up to the front of the carpool lane. By pulling all the way up, you make room for others who are right behind you. We have trained our Hillside tigers to expect to head on up to the front of the carpool line or anywhere in between so that our carpool line moves quickly. When you exit your vehicle while in the carpool line, it holds up the folks who are behind you.

Thanks to so many of our wonderful drivers who stay in their cars, happily pull all the way up (even if their child is standing on the sidewalk ready to board) and smile and wave at our hardworking teachers who daily supervise our children and make sure carpool is running safely. We are grateful to you for helping us to have a great day and for making sure carpool is efficient and safe.

One School, One Book is coming to Hillside! OSOB supplies will be passed out to students at school. If your family is attending school virtually via Extended Campus, you can get your supplies in the office any time the week of September 21st. Just ring the bell; we will get your supplies to you!

To Parents & Guardians:

In compliance with Nebraska State Requirements (Neb. Rev. Stat. 79-248), Westside School District, will be providing a General Health Screening for new students and all students in grades K-4. This screening will include height, weight, vision and hearing. All data will be kept confidential. Our goal is to begin screenings September 21, and have them completed by December 18, 2020. We will adhere to COVID 19 guidelines with social distancing and cleaning of equipment. You will receive a letter from the District Nurses if the screening results are abnormal or any concerns arise with the results.

Parents and Guardians:

Picture Day will be Friday, October 30, at HIllside. We will welcome Extended Campus learners to the cafeteria at that entrance in the morning from 8:00-10:00 a.m., should you wish to have your student's picture taken. Please be sure your students has his/her mask on; we ask that parents wait outside. Just ring the doorbell at the front entrance, identify yourself and your purpose, and we can alert the photographer and send you to the correct entrance! Thank you.
