Principal's Message
I hope you are having a great week and enjoying the sneak peek of our spring weather. The 2024-2025 enrollment process is complete for our current infant-preschool families. We will send out details on meet and greet, classroom placement, and parent orientation in late spring. Students moving to Kindergarten are automatically enrolled. However, I encourage you to contact your home school if you are in need of aftercare services. A very special thank you goes out to our PTA Auction committee. The Auction raised over $43,000. Thank you to Laura Bollman, our Auction Chair, who stepped right up to run the event, Stephanie Cho, Dao Huynh, Mary Knighton-Brenner, Nick Lukacs, Nelie Lynch and
Katie Perumbeti. We appreciate your hard work!
Have a great weekend,
Principal Garland

Author Visit - Brendan Wenzel
We are delighted to welcome author and illustrator Brendan Wenzel to College Heights in April! He will be visiting Pre-K and three year old students to talk about his new book, Two Together, a lively story about the adventures of a dog and cat. Families are invited to purchase a copy of Two Together and two of his other popular books, They All Saw a Cat (Caldecott Honor winner) and Inside Cat. These books will be signed by Mr. Wenzel when he comes to visit. Order forms will be coming home in folders or click here to access the form.
Media Center This Week
This week Pre-K was introduced to author/illustrator (and Caldecott Medal winner) Dan Santat. The Pre-K and three year old classes listened to his book After the Fall, a modern retelling of the Humpty Dumpty nursery rhyme. There was an audible gasp as we reached the end of the story, which features a mind-blowing plot twist!
Other books we read this week:
Bear Wants More by Karma Wilson, illustrated by Jane Chapman
How to Count to 1 by Caspar Salmon, illustrated by Matt Hunt
The Secret Fawn by Kallie George and Elly MacKay
If You're a Monster and You Know It by Rebecca Emberley and Ed Emberley
Seen around College Heights
Felix Robinson (Mrs. Phillips' Pre-K class) and his grandmother took advantage of the spring sunshine to ride their bikes to school today. Way to go, Felix (and your grandma)!
Artwork from our College Heights chicks brightens our hallways - and our days!
Ms. B's class is learning about the power of the pen through persuasive writing. Stay tuned to see if they get their paper.
