Principal Corner

You may or may not be aware that OHS is a CKH Showcase School. Each month we will focus on a leadworthy word of the month. The word for September is empathy. Empathy is the ability to be aware of, understand, and be sensitive to another person’s feelings.


You can see students showing empathy to others in the halls, classrooms, and the lunchroom here at OHS. Sometimes it’s little things like picking up trash for another student who missed the trash can. Other times I see the students who sign up to be a link and help another student during a class period. It is refreshing to see evidence of empathy throughout the building.

Weekly Highlights

Land Art

Intro to 3D Art students took advantage of the nice weather by getting outside and creating land art this week. Students collected items like twigs, leaves, rocks, and pinecones on the nature trail and brought them back to the high school.

Nature Walk

Our American Literature students walked on the Nature Trail here at OHS to start their unit about transcendentalist literature and nature.

Delayed Starts

On our Wednesday delayed start, the staff met to discuss recent NWEA and SAT scores, as well as our scores to other county and state high schools.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on October 16 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Each teacher has a mix of scheduled time slots and open hours - please take a look at the sign-ups below to sign up. We'll see you there!

Animals on School Property

We know that your dog, or any pet, can be a member of the family and a best friend; however, it is important to know that pets are not allowed on school property, even if they are on a leash. A number of children, and some adults, are not comfortable around all pets and may be allergic so for the health, safety and comfort of all of our visitors, they are not permitted in school buildings or on school district property. (Exceptions are made for service animals, animals under the control of public safety officers and for instructional purposes with prior approval from the district.) Thank you for your understanding of this policy.

Student Input Meeting

Our next student input lunch will be held on Tuesday! We'll be inviting ten students from the sign-up list - if you haven't signed up and would like to join please follow the link below. If you have already signed up there is no need to sign up again.
