Welcome to Johnson Pre-K!!

We are so excited to have your little one with us here at Johnson Pre-K. For most of our students, this is the first school experience; and the same can be said of many of our parents. We ask that everyone pack a little extra patience for the first days of school. It takes time and practice to perfect procedures for things like arrival and dismissal. Please have a little grace with your fellow parents and their children who are all learning together. It is hot and everyone is in a hurry, but if you will be patient and calm, we will work as quickly as possible to make sure everyone's needs are taken care of.

The Pre-K Center at Johnson is an off-site Pre-K Center. Students are not enrolled at Johnson, but rather they are enrolled through their neighborhood elementary school. Students at Johnson PK are enrolled at either Britton Elementary, Quail Creek Elementary, or Ridgeview Elementary. It is a little confusing at times, because you will still receive communications from your Elementary site. Please know that all communications regarding events specific to Johnson will come through addressed "Johnson Pre-K Families" so you know that they are happening here! If you receive communications about picture days, free dress days, book fairs, etc and they are NOT addressed to "Johnson PK Families" then they do NOT pertain to your PK student here at Johnson. Districtwide communications, however, pertain to ALL students enrolled in OKCPS. If you have questions about an event communication, feel free to call the office for clarification at 405-587-6700.

Pre-K Breakfast and Lunch Menus can be accessed through the OKCPS School Nutrition Services Department. If a menu is not current by the date (September calendar available September 1st, etc), please contact School Nutrition Services. **

For the first few days of school, parents will be able to park on the street (the front parking lot is reserved for Johnson PK staff only) and walk their children in through the front office doors. All building visitors must enter and exit through the front doors. Please do not attempt to enter through the car pool doors as this is a safety hazard, and all exterior doors are alarmed for staff and student safety. All visitors must leave the building before 8:20am on these days.

After the 16th, Arrival & Dismissal will occur through the car loops (unless you are walking to school) and following the guidelines below.

NOTE: It is NEVER appropriate to park in the front parking lot lane. This is a driveway, not a parking area. Please park on the street and walk up. This is also the case when bringing in tardy students or picking up early. During Dismissal, this area is used for Daycare pickup and anyone parking in the drive or parked in the lot, can become trapped until the daycare students are loaded at the end of the day.

Johnson Pre-K Center will host a Parent Information Meeting on the evening of Tuesday, August 20th at 6pm. This meeting is NOT come and go. Mrs. Huggins will begin at 6 with everyone in the Cafeteria to cover some School/District information, and then you will meet with your child's teacher to go over classroom specific procedures, expectations, and information.

This is not an open house. Please make arrangements for childcare so that you will be able to provide the staff with your undivided attention. All meetings will conclude no later than 7:25pm
