From the Principal!
We had the honor of starting our week with our annual Veteran's Day Ceremony. Thank you to all of our guests that were able to attend, and most importantly, thank you to all of our Veterans. We hope you enjoyed the ceremony and know how much you are appreciated for your selfless sacrifices. I also want to give a sincere thank you to Retired Major Brad Coolidge for being our guest speaker. We appreciate you sharing your experiences with our students and helping them to know the importance of Veteran's Day!
Other exciting events this week were highlighted when the Boerne Education Foundation as well as our local Boerne Fire Department surprised our campus with donations! BEF awarded over $15,000 to Fabra staff for Teacher Innovation Grants that will go directly to impacting our students in the classroom! Our Boerne Fire Department made a $950 donation from there back to school drive that will make a huge impact in providing supplies and resources to all of our students campus wide! We are so appreciative of our incredible community!
Please read through this week's newsletter for important dates, information, and exciting things happening around campus! As always, if we can help in any way, then please don't hesitate to reach out to our front office. Have a wonderful and restful weekend!

News from the Nurse
Parents,
Although we know the importance of having our students here at school, please keep your child at home when they are truly sick. Please do not send them back to school until 24 hours have passed without any fever, vomiting, or diarrhea and without giving medication.
State screenings for vision and hearing have been underway. If your child had difficulty passing either screening, you will receive a Letter of Referral to have your child be evaluated by his/her doctor, an eye, or ear specialist. After your child is examined, please return the doctor's portion of the referral to the nurse. Your prompt response will benefit your child.
Thank You, PTO!!!!
Early Act Club - Donations!
The Fabra Early Act Club is again recycling plastic bags for HEB and collecting shoes for Good for the Sole. If you have any plastic bags at home or shoes that no longer have a need for, please feel free to bring them to Fabra so we can help put them both to good use!
Thank You, Falcon Father!

Library News and Updates!
CAUGHT READING
We've caught quite a few Falcons reading during choice time. When students are caught reading, they get a ticket with their name on it. Every Wednesday, I pick one ticket from the jar on the announcements, and that student gets to choose from some fun library swag.
Here is this week's winner, John Sharpe, 4th grade.
LIBRARY LESSONS
We have been cooking up a storm in the library for the past two weeks. Kindergarten made pizzas, and now everyone is doing a Book Tasting. We got a big book order, and this tasting gives students a chance to "sample" these new books before they go on the shelf. Please ask your child what their favorite book they "tasted."
LOST OR DAMAGED BOOKS
If your child damages a book, please have them bring it to me. I can fix a lot of things. Make sure they bring the damaged book into the library and show it to me, and we can figure out what to do about it. I emphasize to the students that I will never be mad at them over a book.
· If a book is lost, you have some options
· You can pay the replacement cost. I will send home an overdue notice with the amount on it.
§ We take cash- try to have the exact amount as I don't often have change.
§ We take checks made out to Fabra Elementary.
§ You can also pay using a credit card on RevTrak which you can find on our website.
· You can purchase a replacement that is used as long as it is a HARD COVER and in good or better shape.

Calling All Falcon Fathers!!!
Spend the day at Fabra!
Falcon fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other father-figures....Would you like to volunteer for at least one day each year? During the day, Falcon Fathers may read to a classroom, play at recess, help out in P.E, eat lunch with students and any other assigned activities where they actively engage with not only their own students, but other students as well. On the day of their participation, Falcon Fathers are given a brief review of their involvement and get to wear an official Falcon Father t-shirt.
Please limit your initial sign-up to only ONE date, and additionally sign-up for the "Waitlist" slot if you would like to be notified of last minute openings that would allow you to participate again.
