HVCHS UPDATES
*A NEWSLETTER FOR THE HVCHS COMMUNITY*
NOVEMBER 2024 EDITION
A MESSAGE FROM MS. RILEY
November is known as the National Month of Gratitude, and one of the parts of my life that I am most grateful for is my time at HVCHS. I am so thankful for the opportunity to form relationships with our dedicated, hard-working staff, our supportive parent community, and most importantly, our amazing students, who make me smile each and every day. Thank you all for being a part of the HVCHS community.
GRATITUDE GRAMS
In an effort to show our thankfulness for the staff at HVCHS, we are in the process of creating Gratitude Grams for each staff member. Please consider completing this brief form to express your gratitude for a HVCHS teacher, paraprofessional, custodian, secretary, nurse, or administrator. The form can be submitted multiple times, so please feel free to share your gratitude for as many staff members as you'd like prior to November 24! We truly appreciate your support for our staff.
HURRICANE RELIEF
Thank you to everyone who supported our hurricane relief efforts for our partner school in North Carolina! Mountain Heritage High School re-opened earlier this week after being closed for 53 days. Through our various fundraising efforts, we will be able to provide an individual care package for each student, as well as items from the general school wish list. We are proud of the fact that HVCHS came together in so many different ways to support our partner school, including:
- Sports Fest 2024, hosted by the HV Athletic Council
- candy collection by Guidance Ambassadors
- Wake Up Waffles by our 106 Program
- Powderpuff Flag Football Game by Student Council
- Fashion Exchange by the Youth Environmental Society
- wristband sales by the HV Athletic Teams
- individual donations by countless families, clubs, and community groups
When we work together, we truly are HV Strong!
ALUMNI CONNECTIONS
Last year, the Counseling Services Department invited recent HVCHS graduates to participate in the inaugural Alumni Day, a program designed to provide an opportunity for recent alumni to return and talk about their college/work/postgrad experiences with current juniors and seniors in an informal and relaxed atmosphere. If you know recent alumni of HVCHS who might be interested in participating in this year's event on January 10, please encourage them to reach out to Mr. Maldonado in the Counseling Office at kevinmaldonado@hvrsd.org
CLASS OF 2025
Congratulations to our seniors, who were victorious in our annual Powderpuff Flag Football game earlier this week!
A few reminders for the Class of 2025:
- Please drive slowly and carefully in the parking lots. We've had a number of minor accidents and close calls that could have been prevented.
- Seniors may not sign themselves out from school without parental permission.
- Both the state and the district have requirements for attendance at school that must be met in order for students to graduate. Attendance matters!
CLASS OF 2026
Flapjacks with Frosty: The Junior Class will be hosting Flapjacks with Frosty on December 7. This community event and fundraiser not only funds our class, but volunteers can earn NHS volunteer hours as well. Please view the flyer for additional information.
Participation Survey & Advisory Board: Several weeks ago, a survey was sent out to the entire class of 2026 via both Instagram and OnCourse. It polled for their opinions and offered opportunities for participation in our fundraisers, winter pep rally, as well as preferences for the apparel fundraiser. We got a ton of responses and were pleased that the Class Officers made an effort to allow all juniors the chance to participate, volunteer, share opinions and preferences, and simply feel included.
Junior Prom 2025: Friday May 2, 2025 at the Buck Hotel in Feasterville-Trevose, PA
CLASS OF 2027
CLASS OF 2028
Rehearsals for the Freshman Winter Pep Rally Dance are underway! All students are encouraged to participate and get involved! See Ms. Golkov or Ms. Dykty for details.
