Haskin Happenings
Reach For The Stars
Principal's Desk
Dear Haskin Families,
As we dive into another exciting week at Haskin Elementary, we are thrilled to celebrate fair week with our students and community. This is a time for fun, learning, and connection, and we encourage everyone to take part in the festivities. Our fair is not just about rides and games; it's a wonderful opportunity for our students to explore, engage, and grow. We hope you enjoy the week as much as we do, and we look forward to seeing you there!
At the heart of Haskin Elementary, our core values guide everything we do, and this month's Heart of Haskin core value is growth mindset. We believe in nurturing a positive and resilient approach to learning, where challenges are seen as opportunities to grow. Let's work together to cultivate a mindset that will help them succeed both in and out of the classroom. Ask your child about their "growing brain" and how to support their growth mindset.
Warm regards,
Mrs. Martha Nenni (previously Venetucci)

Notes from the Social Worker....
Welcome Back Haskin Families! I hope that you had a wonderful summer and am so excited to be starting another year with all of you! Things are starting to get back into the swing here at school and everyone is adapting well to their new classrooms and back to school routines.
As a quick re-introduction, I am Randi Haskins and I am the Haskin school social worker. I live in Sandwich and love running into my students around the community. I teach Second Step (our district’s program to build social-emotional skills to help them thrive in school and life), meet with students for the social work IEP minutes, and provide interventions for both individuals and groups of students to improve their social skills or self-regulation skills. At times, I may be reaching out to talk to you or sending home a permission form about providing some extra support for your child.
Also, I wanted to start something new this year. If your family is experiencing difficulties at home, I would like to provide additional support here at school. I understand that you are not always able to share details and that is okay. If your child is coming to school after a difficult night, morning, or weekend, please email me “Handle with Care” as the subject. You can share as many or as few details as you would like and let me know if you would like me to follow up with you. This will let me (and by extension, their teacher) know that your child may need some extra time, patience, a check-in, or help during the day.
I am available to chat with you if you have any questions or concerns or need any help. Please feel free to reach out. I am available at 815-786-8812 x24007 or at rhaskins@sandwich430.org.
Have a great school year!

There is an answering machine here at school, so you can call at any time to let us know if your student will not be present. An automated system will take calls before 7:00 a.m. If your child is not at school and we have not been contacted we will send out reminder messages. If contact cannot be made, please note that the absence will be considered UNEXCUSED.
Students shall be permitted no more than seven (7) excused absences, including vacations, per school year, based upon parental/legal guardian confirmation for the reasons of the absence.
