January 2025

Happy New Year! As we step into a new year filled with opportunities, we’re embracing the season of fresh starts and new experiences. January is the perfect time to explore something new, and we have some fantastic programs designed just for teens that you won’t want to miss!
First up is our Adult-ish Book Club, a fresh addition to our lineup for readers aged 16+. Led by Brittany, our collections manager, this club offers an engaging space to connect over great books and thoughtful conversations. Brittany has a talent for creating welcoming and fun book discussions, as seen in the success of our adult book clubs. Her vibrant personality and knack for fostering meaningful connections make this a must-try club for teens.
In February, teens can look forward to an exclusive and unforgettable experience: True Crime: Presented by the Sheriff's Department. Dive into the fascinating world of crime scene investigation with a real CSI! Participants will hear about the daily life of a crime scene investigator, learn techniques like fingerprinting and evidence collection, and test their skills in a trivia challenge. It’s an incredible chance to explore the science behind solving mysteries, designed just for teens.
This winter, make time to connect, explore, and discover with us. We can't wait to see you!

He’s a big fan of Catstronauts and Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and Greg Heffley is his favorite character. Behind the Scenes: Staff Spotlight
Sarah, Youth Services Clerk
Meet Sarah, who has been a valued member of the DCTPL team for 10 months! A lifelong resident of Danville, Sarah attended Danville Community Schools and later graduated from Ivy Tech Community College. She was inspired to work at the library because of the special role it played in her childhood and her love of books. Sarah’s favorite part of her job is helping patrons, and her warm, welcoming presence makes her a favorite among library visitors.
In her free time, Sarah enjoys expressing her creativity through art, writing, journaling, and reading. She also has a knack for finding four-leaf clovers—a unique talent! At home, Sarah shares her space with five beloved cats. Some of her favorite things include the book The Eyes and The Impossible by Dave Eggers, the movie Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, and the TV show Natsume's Book of Friends. Sarah loves spending time outdoors and often visits Clifty Falls State Park and Blanton Woods. If she could have any superpower, she would choose shapeshifting, and if given the chance to meet a historical figure, she’d love to connect with the artists behind the ancient cave art in the Chauvet Caves in France.
We’re so lucky to have Sarah’s passion and creativity as part of the library team!
