SPECIAL CALENDAR ANNOUNCEMENT
Monday (12/2) - Late start added –We met our Skechers Walk goal and hence earned an additional late start! We have scheduled this extra late start for Monday (12/2), the first day back from Thanksgiving break. Thank you to everyone that helped us meet the goal, this is a great fundraiser for PEF and the Friendship Foundation.

College Career Center Announcements
CLASS OF 2025
CSU and UC applications are due Monday, December 2nd. You should be working on these applications now in case you have questions. We are available to answer questions through November 22nd but will be closed and not available the week of the Thanksgiving holiday.
FAFSA
Hey seniors and families, it's almost time to complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) which will open in December. Before you can complete your FAFSA you will need to establish your Federal Student Aid ID log in credentials. You can do that NOW so that you will be prepared in December. Go to https://studentaid.gov/ and click on
CREATE AN ACCOUNT in the upper right corner. Both student and parent will need to create their own accounts using different email addresses. If you are not sure which parent should complete the FAFSA you can use the Parent Wizard on the Student Aid.gov website or use this link: https://studentaid.gov/fafsa-apply/parents.
The College Career Center will be holding a FAFSA Night on Wednesday, December11th via zoom. We will go page by page through the FAFSA. Registration will be on the College Career Center webpage on the PVPHS website beginning December 2nd.
SPEECH CONTEST
Peninsula High students can enter a state-wide speech contest that will award the winner over $21,000 in money and scholarships. The local Palos Verdes Lions Club is participating in this annual event. The deadline to sign up is Monday, December 2nd. Informational flyers are in the College Career Center and the counseling office. The topic of the speech is Artificial Intelligence. An informational meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 20th at lunch in the CCC.

The Southwest Special Education Local Plan Area (SW SELPA) Community Advisory Committee (CAC) presents the 12th Annual Staff & Community Partners Awards Night: "Empowering Learners through Collaboration and Inclusion." We are now accepting nominations until Monday, January 13, 2025, 5:00 p.m.
The SW SELPA CAC is excited to recognize outstanding staff or community members who support the academic, social, and/or emotional growth of students with disabilities. Please nominate staff or community members including teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers, bus drivers, custodians, office staff, administrators, volunteers, or community members.
Peninsula Drama Wins Big at Fall DTASC
Fall Festival season was a successful one for Peninsula Drama.
The students in Drama 3/4 Advanced competed at the Drama Teachers' Association of Southern California (DTASC) Fall Festival in the Varsity Division, held on October 19 at Calabasas High School.
The acting groups from Drama 3/4 found success, reaching the semi-final round in the following categories:
FEMALE-CENTRIC (Sophie Abe, Koti Fanter, Jocelyn Grimme & Ellie Williams); BEST PICTURE OSCARS (Abigail Imley, Elizabeth Lau, Jaden Mueller & Alexis Sedillo; directed by Kaitlyn Castro) and LARGE OPEN COMEDY (Blake Holdsworth, Charlie Nelson, Poppie Omari, Dakota Pflieger & Bailey Rivera)
Peninsula Drama made finals in three tech theater/design categories, earning 5th Place in SCENIC DESIGN (Johnny Herrmann, Violet Neils & Linus Ruchti); 4th Place in LIGHTING DESIGN (Gabriel Kim & Armon Riaz) and 2nd Place in MARKETING AND PUBLICITY (Celeste Berumen, Ava Lee & Juliette Lin).
Our Lighting Design and Marketing & Publicity groups have been invited to present at the DTASC Salute to the Winners event on November 24 at Loyola Marymount University.
On November 9, students in Drama I Advanced competed at the Junior Varsity Division at DTASC at El Camino Real CHS to much fanfare.
Peninsula Drama earned 5th PLACE in the FEMALE-CENTRIC category(Tessa Belke, Jacqueline Hernandez and Caroline Maeder; Directed by Valerie Chukwudebelu, Sadie Cortese & Amanda Higuchi); OPEN DRAMA (Isabella Andrade, Baheer Ghowral, Rishi Hiremaath, Nicole Perez; Directed by Kaitlyn Castro and Madison Ke) earned 4th Place.
OPEN COMEDY (Ishaan Ailawadhi, Amna Cunningham, Zoe Ebbens & Brooke Strassner; Directed by Elizabeth Lau, Juliette Lin & Alexis Sedillo) earned 3rd place.
BEST PICTURE OSCAR WINNERS (Keira Kendall, Zack Lin & Coral Vincent; Directed by Jocelyn Grimme & Ellie Williams) and OPEN MUSICAL (Jackson Balonek, Kaitlyn Barker, Audrey Berman, Anya Chachra, Chloe Hanser & Luk Vierra-Lamber; Directed by Blake Holdsworth, Jaden Mueller & Charlie Nelson) both earned 2nd Place
Overall, Peninsula Drama earned 3rd Place in Sweepstakes at the JV Division Festival.
AVID Oregon College Tour
Last week, our AVID program embarked on a three-day Oregon college tour, where students visited Reed College, Lewis & Clark College, Oregon State University, and the University of Oregon. Students gained valuable insights into college life, learned about the admissions process at each college and developed a deeper understanding of college expectations and opportunities for their future. We are so proud of our students’ enthusiasm and commitment to planning their academic journeys!
Rotary Interact Club Gives Back
The PVPHS Rotary Interact Club had an amazing time giving back to their community last weekend by participating in Rise Against Hunger. Volunteers helped package and distribute meals to those in need. If you’d like to get involved in further service opportunities, contact Mike Spalding for further information.
National English Honor Society
If you are a junior interested in applying to NEHS for next semester, ask your English teacher for the code to join the Teams site. All application information is available on Teams. The deadline to apply is December 9th.
