When is a student too sick for school?
Back to school means sharing learning and making new memories. It also includes sharing germs! We are starting to see some viruses make their way around. Handwashing and staying home when too sick for school will help with decreasing the spread of germs. We want students to attend school and maintain good attendance, but sometimes our bodies need us to rest and recover when ill.
What is too sick for school?
Students who exhibit symptoms such as a fever of 100.4°F or greater, diarrhea, vomiting, or any potential or actual contagious illness (including rashes) MUST NOT be sent to school and will not be permitted to remain at school. To return to school, a student should have improved symptoms and be free of fever for more than 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications (such as acetaminophen/Tylenol or ibuprofen/Advil/Motrin). Additionally, the student must be free from diarrhea and vomiting for at least 24 hours. Please be sure that your emergency contacts are up-to-date in Infinite Campus in case of illness during school hours.
Fulton County Schools will no longer require parents to submit COVID-19 positive test results. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has updated its guidance for COVID-19, which now includes recommendations for respiratory viruses in general. Our district is following this guidance, so employees and students are no longer required to report positive cases. If you need information on managing the care of an individual with COVID-19, please contact your healthcare provider. For more details on the CDC's guidance, visit this link.

iReady Assessments - Fall Screener
Students have started their iReady fall diagnostic assessments. These assessments give us current information about your child's present levels in math and reading and help us to make decisions about class placements and additional learning supports or advancements. Please discuss the importance of giving BEST effort on the assessments. The Family Guide is attached if you would like additional information.
Wednesday, August 14: Math Assessment
Wednesday, August 21: Reading Assessment
After the assessments, each week students will need to complete one teacher-assigned math lesson and one teacher-assigned reading lesson. Teachers will choose the lessons based on current learning in math and ELA classes. These iReady lessons count as a grade for the math and ELA courses. Students have time every day during 4th period to complete their assigned lessons, and they can also access the system at home if needed.
Student Success Skills (SSS) Parent Information
Student Success Skills are a set of standards that will be taught in all schools, to all students, by all teachers throughout the school year. These standards include six skills that are broken down into several standards across grade levels. Teaching these skills will support students in creating a foundation for managing emotions, healthy relationships, understanding and empathizing with others, being responsible and safe, and learning to cope with difficult life situations.
The attached information for parents will explain the curriculum, how to create a parent login to the ReThink Ed online platform, and information about the annual SSS inventory.
Our students will take the SSS Inventory on Wednesday, August 28. Students are taught the SSS curriclum during 9th period throughout the school year.
Missing Assignment Emails - changes this year!
Beginning this week, on Thursday, August 15, our automated weekly "Missing Assignments" emails will begin. If your child has not turned in an assignment and it is flagged as "Missing" in the gradebook, you will receive an automated email notification. Missing assignments hold a score of "zero" in the gradebook and are detrimental to a student's overall grade. You can also view assignments flagged as missing at any time in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.
NEW rules for Missing/Late work this school year:
- Late/missing assignments will only be accepted for credit until the final assessment for that unit of study is given.
- Missing assignment emails will not repeat prior notifications. For example, if you receive an email about Missing Assignment "1" this week, that same assignment will not be included in an email on the following week if it is still not turned in. Only assignments flagged as "missing" since the last email will appear in the notification.
- The teacher is the first point of contact about a missing assignment.
BRING YOUR FURRY FAMILY MEMBER TO PICK UP AND DROP OFF ON FRIDAY!
