RC3 SkillsUSA Chapter Wins Big in State Competition
Competition season is wrapping up for Rc3's career and technical student organizations. Cyber Innovation and Fire Science Academy students traveled to Mobile, AL to compete in the state SkillsUSA competition. During the competition, students participated in industry-created competition experiences and connected what they have learned in the classroom to the real world. Congratulations to Cyber Innovation Academy team members James Mackay who won third place and earned a bronze medal for Internetworking and Irene Kihara who placed first and won a gold for Internetworking at the state SkillsUSA Conference in Mobile, AL. We would also like to congratulate Fire and Emergency Services team member Elliott Duel who placed 1st earning a gold medal for Firefighting. This is Elliott’s second time to bring home the gold! We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed to this remarkable success – the students, parents, teachers, mentors, and supporters. Your unwavering support and belief in our students have been instrumental in their journey towards victory.
Fire Academy Student Helps to Save Life
On the evening of Wednesday Oct 4th, RC3 student Francisco Rojas Carrillo was delivering food when he came upon a motor vehicle collision on Highway 31. He noticed a car was on fire, so he ran to the car to assist the driver. He noticed the driver was unable to get out of the car on his own. Francisco and several other men sprung into action to get the driver out on the passenger side of the vehicle. With the assistance of the other men, the man was successfully pulled from the car. As a first year student in the Fire Academy, Francisco has learned to stay calm in emergency situations. Francisco would love to become a Firefighter after he graduates. His willingness to jump into action to help his fellow man, without a second thought, shows his selfless attitude. He was honored at the Hoover Library during the 2024 Hoover Fire Department Awards Ceremony. He was given the "Citizens Award of Merit" for his actions. We are very proud of him and believe he has a bright future!

News from the Nurse
Parents, if your student tests positive for COVID, you may refer to your physician for guidelines. Hoover City Schools policy states students need to remain at home if they have a temperature of 100 degrees or higher. They must be fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication in order to return to school.
