Dear Families,
We hope you enjoyed your Halloween! It's hard to believe we are now officially in the month of November. Time really is flying. Before we know it, Winter Break will be right around the corner. The end of a semester is a crucial time for our students. We encourage you and your student to be proactive in planning for the successful completion of the first half of the year.
Here are our updates for this week!
What Do You Need To Know?
More Marching Band Pride
Let's hear it for our Ranger Marching Band! The group achieved a Superior rating at OMEA State Marching Band Finals last Saturday, October 26th. We really are the best band in the land!
Mustaches Make a Difference
The Movember Charity Challenge starts this coming Monday, November 4. Over a dozen faculty members grow mustaches as a constant reminder to donate during the month of November. This is our annual month-long charity drive that goes towards Holiday Help, a Hamilton Local Schools organization that raises money for families in our district to provide for the holidays. Students and faculty are encouraged to donate funds during lunch periods to their selected class. The class that raises the most money during the month of November is rewarded with Dilly Bars courtesy of the Obetz Dairy Queen. The Movember Charity challenge is the district’s most successful charity event, raising over $4000 over three years.
Finding Their Pathway
On Friday, October 25, a group of students from HTHS participated in a "Constructor for a Day" field trip. Students toured the highway construction job site at the 70-71 split and met with industry representatives to learn more about construction-related skilled trades. In addition to learning about skills needed to have a career in construction, students also received information about finding an apprenticeship or a job in the industry.
Semester 1 Exam Schedule
In an effort to be proactive, we want to share the exam schedule students will be following at the end of the quarter. Please know that students are expected to be present for their exams at their appointed time. If students do not have an exam in the later periods, they are not required to remain in the building. Transportation, however, will run its usual schedule.
Featuring Jael Haynes-Lee
We've always been proud to call Jael a Ranger. She represents the drive, ambition, and dedication we value in our students. Recently, Jael was featured in an article about her experience at the United States Military Academy, more commonly known as West Point. We've linked the article below. We are honored to have Jael as part of our Ranger family. Come check her and her teammates out on the court this basketball season! GO RANGERS!
Gracias!
This week, one of our teachers got to visit with some of our smaller Rangers. Mrs. Burk traveled down to the elementary school to read the bilingual book La Mariposa to Ms. Kowalski's 2nd graders. This was a great experience for our younger district students to get to know one of our high school teachers and be exposed to the Spanish language and culture. Gracias, Mrs. Burk!
OSU vs. Michigan Football Tickets!
Want to see the Buckeyes take on that team from up North? The boys basketball program will be raffling off a chance to win two Ohio State vs. Michigan football tickets for this year's game in The Shoe. Want to enter? Check out the info below!
