Re: Important Announcements: New Interim Senior Program Administrator of Special Education and New Program Administrator of Hospital School Program and Long Term Care & Treatment
New Interim Senior Program Administrator of Special Education, Amy Marquardt-Dustin
Dear MESD Community,
We are excited to announce that Amy Marquardt-Dustin will be transitioning to a new role within the Multnomah Education Service District (MESD). Amy has been an invaluable leader, serving as the Program Administrator of our Hospital School Program, Long Term Care Treatment (LTCT) and Walden Crossing School, where her dedication and expertise have significantly contributed to the success and well-being of our students.
This fall, Amy will assume the position of Interim Senior Program Administrator of Special Education. In this new role, Amy will bring her extensive experience, expertise and passion for education to support and enhance our Special Education schools and programs. We are confident that with her leadership in this key position, our Special Education initiatives will continue to thrive and grow.
About Amy Marquardt-Dustin
Amy is an experienced and accomplished educator with nearly 20 years of experience. She has a strong background in relationship building, inclusive and equitable practices, and supporting robust standards for all students.
Amy hails from sunny southern California where she enjoyed all things camping, fishing, and swimming in the Pacific Ocean with her parents. She went on to spend her undergraduate years in northern California’s beautiful redwood forest where she got her undergraduate degree in English Literature with an emphasis in Teacher Education from Cal Poly Humboldt, and then obtained her Masters of Education with an emphasis in Special Education from the University of San Diego. Additionally, Amy holds a School Administrator License from the University of Oregon.
Amy moved to Portland in January 2006 where she has worked in education for nearly 20 years and has taught almost every grade level. During this time, she found a particular adoration for fourth, fifth, and sixth grades, and a deep passion for racial equity work, inclusionary practices, and advocating for scholars and their families.
In her free time, Amy enjoys running amok and going on silly adventures with her husband Steve, bonus son Miles, daughter Vivienne, and her four rascally animals Tuco, Daffodil, Hedwig, and Artemis. She enjoys board games, bowling, pickleball, traveling, exploring museums, and watching her favorite flicks.
Please join me in congratulating Amy Marquardt-Dustin on her new role and in expressing our gratitude for her continued commitment to MESD and the students we serve.
Sincerely,
Todd Greaves

New Program Administrator of Hospital School Program and Long Term Care & Treatment, Angie Turner
Dear MESD Community,
We are excited to share that Angie Turner, who brings a wealth of experience and a strong understanding of our program's goals and challenges, has been appointed the interim program administrator for the Hospital School Program, Wynne Watts School, and Walden Crossing School. Angie's extensive experience and dedication to education make her the ideal leader to oversee these programs. Angie will continue to work to maintain the high standards and momentum we have achieved as a team.
About Angie Turner
Angie Turner has been a Special Education Teacher with the Multnomah Education Service District since 2015. Her diverse teaching experience spans multiple facilities, including the Unity Center for Behavioral Health, Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, and the Willamette Falls Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Unit. Angie has a strong background in providing academic support to K-12 students hospitalized due to mental health or medical needs, ensuring they receive individualized instruction and support during their stay.
Angie Turner brings a wealth of skills and certifications to her new role as Interim Program Administrator. She is certified in Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) and Collaborative Problem Solving Tier 1, ensuring effective behavioral strategies and interventions in the classroom. As a born and raised Oregonian, she loves anything and everything outdoors, especially hiking, backpacking, paddle boarding, biking, and camping with my family and our delightful pit bull, Freyja.
“I love reading, live music, and am a bit of a sci-fi nerd. I enjoy traveling and I am an artist in my spare time, making art in all forms but mostly fiber crafts and painting. I’m an avid backyard urban gardener and I sit on the board of directors for a small nonprofit educational farm out in Clackamas County.”
