Dear Families,
At Mosaic Digital Academy K-12, we believe our instructional support model offers students and teachers the opportunity to interact in meaningful ways to support their individual learning needs. Although our online courses are completed mostly independently, very young children require the parent to serve as a "learning coach" as an integral part of their success. Starting in Middle School, students become a bit more autonomous once they get the hang of their daily routines however they will still require your periodic check-ins and monitoring of their work submissions. As your high schooler begins to make progress in their courses and sets up positive habits for their week, they too will begin to be more autonomous but don't underestimate your caring support as they still need you!
Instructors in all grade levels host structured Class Time and Homeroom sessions weekly. These lessons are standards-aligned and designed to support the work assigned for the week through course pacing guides. It is important to get your student in the habit of attending weekly Class Time sessions with their teacher and peers to build rapport and maintain a sense of community more than ever. Asking questions and experiencing the content in live lessons will help to deepen your child's learning and clarify misconceptions about what they are learning.
Homeroom sessions are hosted on Mondays via Microsoft Teams. These sessions provide your child with other state-required curriculum not offered in the FLVS courseware such as Mental Health and Social-Emotional Learning and Health topics. Further, teachers prepare students for their week with goal setting and tips to help them succeed.
