Woodlawn PYP eagles had an exciting visit from the SAISD Fiesta Bus! Every month, SAISD hosts school visits with these uniquely decorated and informative buses aimed at giving students a learning experience that is different from sitting in the classroom. Students learned fun facts about the history of Fiesta in San Antonio. The visit finished off with a book or San Antonio-themed bookmark! Thank you SAISD Transportation for the opportunity!

There can never be too many celebrations, and at Woodlawn Academy we seize opportunities to celebrate culture! Our students showed off their creative Fiesta floats and fabulous festive outfits at our Annual Fiesta Parade. Thank you parents for supporting our eagles in preparing their floats for the joy and success of this event!

Woodlawn had the pleasure of showcasing our Native Butterfly Garden at the Monarch Heroes Showcase this past Saturday. All schools that have created native monarch gardens attended. There were games and learning for the community. Woodlawn Academy was recognized with an award for collaboration!

Approaches to Learning (ATL) Social Skills: Collaboration

Second graders are getting a close up view of life cycles with the chance to observe baby chicks hatch in the classroom. They have grown fond of the chicks with tons of personality! What an exciting way to learn about life science!

Our boys soccer team finished out the season in 2nd place! They played with heart and passion throughout the season and during the tournament. Congratulations, eagles! You made us proud!

The final contests for UIL for this year will take place on May 4th at Sam Houston High School. Permission slips are being sent home this week (MYP competing scholars already received their forms). Please sign and return. Thank you for all of your support!

The 8th grade End of Year Planning Committee is looking for any additional help! If your child is a graduating 8th grader this year, then you may want to join in planning their end of year graduation and dance!

To raise funds for these events, the planning committee is selling concessions after school- so bring your money daily!!! You can enjoy a salty or sweet treat while supporting a memorable event for our 8th graders!

Are you interested in participating in a school event as a volunteer. Perhaps support PTO with teacher appreciation events, join your child on a field trip, or help out in a Field Day? You will need a background check through SAISD process. The process can take a few weeks to complete, don't miss out on an opportunity of volunteering because the background check wasn't in on time.
