The Clarkstown Connection
Proposed School Budget 2024-25
A Message from the Superintendent
Dear Clarkstown Central School District Families and Staff,
On Tuesday, May 21, our community will be asked to participate in the annual School Budget Vote and Board Election. The proposed 2024-25 CCSD spending plan has been carefully crafted to meet the educational needs of our students while balancing the costs with our community’s ability to support it.
If approved, the proposed budget (Proposition 1) in the amount of $253,179,418 would result in a 2.69% tax levy increase — which is within the New York State tax cap threshold as calculated for CCSD. This year, a second proposition (Proposition 2) will ask voters to authorize the expenditure of funds from the District’s Capital Reserve Fund 2018 and Capital Reserve Fund 2020. Proposition 2 does not have a property tax levy impact.
In creating the proposed budget, all curriculum and student supports that are important to providing a high-quality education were considered. The Board of Education and administration spent several months working cooperatively to develop a fiscally-responsible plan that:
Preserves and expands current programming;
Creates additional social-emotional learning supports;
Adds more supports for students with special needs;
Enhances supports for English Language Learners (ELLs);
Further explores our Future Ready initiative through programming; and,
Provides necessary capital upgrades such as floor tile replacement and abatement at Felix Festa Middle School.
The Clarkstown Central School District is committed to ensuring access to exceptional educational opportunities for all students in all schools, with the goal of making them more future ready.
In addition to the proposed budget, voters will be asked to elect three members to the Board of Education. If elected, each member would serve a three-year term effective July 1, 2024 and concluding on June 30, 2027. We thank you in advance for prioritizing this year's vote and election. Your continued involvement in, and support of, public education in our community is greatly appreciated. See you at the polls on Tuesday, May 21!
Sincerely,
Marc P. Baiocco, Ed.D.
