It has brought us all such joy to welcome your students back into school for the 2024-25 school year! We have loved seeing their smiles and excitement for learning.

Important Update for Lunches:

Tyson is a free breakfast and lunch school so students will always have lunch. You are welcome to send your students to school with lunch, but please do not send them with items that need to be heated up or need hot water. For safety purposes (preventing burns), we do not have microwave/hot water for them to use. Thanks!

The goal for all students it to 90% or better attendance, which means less than 8 absences per year.

This year, our school will use a universal social-emotional-behavior screener during our assessment Fall (September), Winter (December), and Spring (April). It's called the Social, Academic, and Emotional Behavior Risk Screener (SAEBRS). This screener helps teachers find needed classroom structures and identify students who might benefit from extra support. Our PBIS team will use this information to help us ensure that we are supporting all our students and meeting their social, emotional, and behavioral needs. Classroom teachers will rate students outside of learning time so no instructional time is lost. Please contact your principal with any questions.

As part of The Alaska Reads Act, the State of Alaska requires that districts administer an early literacy screening tool three times a year to students in grades K-3 to identify potential reading difficulties in order to improve reading outcomes for students. mClass with DIBELS 8th Edition Assessments is the State of Alaska Department of Education’s and ASD’s Early Literacy benchmark screening and progress monitoring tool for students in grades K-3 in reading. mClass utilizes curriculum-based measures and is used by schools as part of the ASD Comprehensive Assessment System to support informed instructional decisions.

mClass screening assessments will only be administered in-person during the benchmark window listed below:
