A Moment With Mrs. O'Donnell
Attea Students and Families,
I hope you all enjoyed some time off with family and friends over the holidays. I am excited to see your children return to school and continue to have success at Attea.
Before returning to school, I wanted to share some reminders with you all…
Looking forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday!
Go Flyers!

Week At A Glance
Safety Concern
Morning LRC Time Update
Starting after winter break we will no longer have morning LRC time available for students. Doors to school will open at 7:55am Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and at 8:55am on Wednesday. The LRC will still be open after school from 3:10-4:10pm Monday-Thursday. We apologize for any changes in schedule and routine this might create for families. Please note: students can still make pre-arranged appointments to meet with teachers before school. If they have an appointment, students will check in at the main office before being allowed upstairs.
8th Grade Parents
Glenbrook South High School Counselors will visit with our eighth grade students on Monday, January 13, 2025. During this one hour visit, the counselors will share some basic information about the transition to high school, play a trivia game about GBS, and answer questions our students may have.
On Thursday, January 30, 2025, the counselors will return to Attea for course registration. During this short individual meeting with your child, the counselor will review course placements and gather feedback regarding elective preferences. Students may have their GBS ID picture taken on this day as well, so please share this information with your child. Once we know for sure, we will add this to our daily announcements in PowerSchool.

Career Expo - General Interest Form
We are exploring the opportunity to have parents, family members or community members come speak to our students about their careers. The goal would be to share insight into the education necessary for your position, what your day-to-day looks like, and other unique characteristics about what you do! And hand-on experiences or manipulatives would be great to show. There are so many amazing experiences out there that our students don't know about and you all have great insight to share!
This is a general interest form. If you are at all remotely interested in coming to present sometime in February-April, please complete this form so we can gather interest and see what could work within one another's schedules. Our tentative plan would be to host various guests throughout the school year during our lunch periods.
Please reach out to Amy Frederick (afrederick@glenview34.org or 847-486-7704) with any questions.
This interest form closes January 20th.
GBS Consortium Art Show Winners
We are excited to share that two Attea students received awards in the GBS Consortium Art Show last night, which showcased artwork from Attea, Springman, Maple, and Field Middle Schools. Out of all the talented submissions, we are proud to announce that Attea students earned both first and second place. Please join me in congratulating 8th grader Kayla Joo, who received 2nd place for her stunning portrait drawing, and Jiwoo Lee, who won 1st place for her beautiful Impressionist painting. This is an impressive achievement, and we are so proud of their extraordinary talents. Congratulations to both of them!"
Reminder
Coats, scarves, hats, and gloves are essential for students to safely be outside for any period of time, during recess or waiting for the bus.
