St. Thomas School
Mid-Week Memo: October 16, 2024
Our Mission:
St. Thomas School serves the parishes of St. Therese of Lisieux, Holy Spirit, and St. Matthew.
In partnership with the family, we are dedicated to nurturing the personal development of the whole child. Our mission is to instill Catholic values, foster self-discipline, and promote academic excellence in the spirit of a caring, affirming community.
From the Principal's Desk...
Greetings, St. Thomas families!
Field Trip Tomorrow We are thrilled to have our K-8 students attending the Cirque Kalabanté: Afrique En Cirque for an unforgettable cultural experience! We will be leaving promptly at 8:45am. Please dress students in school uniforms, as we will be representing St. Thomas School. I am sure tomorrow night’s dinner conversation will be riveting!
Hurricane Service Opportunities Students at St. Thomas School have the opportunity to share kind words of encouragement and God’s love with students in a North Carolina school by making and sending cards. Another way to help those affected by the hurricane is by supporting Catholic Charities in Charlotte, North Carolina. They are on the frontlines helping to assist people in the western part of the state, and the agency could use your help. At this time, making a financial contribution is the most impactful way to assist the communities in need. If you can help, donations can be made online here. All money collected here will go to hurricane relief. Families are in urgent need of support as they face challenges such as flooding, power outages, loss of their homes, limited access to water, food, and other necessities. Please also join in prayer for those who have lost their lives, their families, and all who have been impacted by these devastating storms.
Maine Catholic Education Summit You are invited! To RSVP, please fill out this form.
Wednesday, November 6, 2024, 6:00 p.m.
St. John’s Community Center, 43 Pleasant Street, Brunswick, ME
Hosted by Bishop James Ruggieri & Maine Catholic Schools Superintendent Shelly Wheeler
The purpose of the summit is to understand the perception of key Catholic school stakeholders on the current state of Catholic schools in the Diocese of Portland and how the diocese can strengthen these schools to ensure their long-term vitality. Additionally, the summit will examine how Catholic schools can enhance their parish communities including how to reach homeschooling families and how to best support these families with their Catholic education endeavors.
Saturday’s Trick or Treat and Dance This weekend our families will walk the spooky halls of St. Thomas School followed by an evening of dancing fun! I won’t be able to join you for this fun event, as my family has an event planned the same evening in Massachusetts. However, I will be looking on Facebook to see the fantastic costumes and fun had by all!
