Principal Letter
Dear Northridge Community,
Please accept my apologies for the delay in sending out this final weekly blast of the 2024-2025 school year. It was a truly jam-packed week of fun, and unexpected travel on Wednesday and Thursday put me a little behind.
Our final week included the always-popular Field Day, a huge hit with the students! Despite the chilly weather, there were so many smiles as kids participated in a variety of activities. From refreshing water games and cooperative challenges like the 3-Legged Race to exciting team competitions such as Duck Target (where teams used water squirters to knock ducks off a fence!) and traditional games like the Dizzy Bat Race, it was a day of pure joy. A huge thank you to all the volunteers who helped make this day possible – your support is truly invaluable. We also extend our gratitude to our Field Day Committee, led by Mac Goldwasser, for their early arrival, meticulous organization, and fantastic planning!
This past week also featured our heartfelt Senior Clap Out. It's always a special and often emotional event as students graduating this year, who once walked our halls as elementary learners, return to be celebrated. Our current NRE students enthusiastically lined the hallways, cheering for the seniors as they walked through. The seniors genuinely love reconnecting with their former teachers and reminiscing about their elementary school days.
This past Friday morning, we bid a fond "see you later" to our wonderful 6th-grade graduates. For many, Northridge has been home since Kindergarten, and for those who joined us later, you quickly became an integral part of our family. While we'll certainly miss these incredible kids, we know they are destined for amazing things. We're already looking forward to seeing them back at the Back to School Carnival in August, and, undoubtedly, for their Senior Clap Out in six years!
Our youngest students, the kindergarteners, also held their delightful graduation celebration on Friday morning. It was an incredibly sweet event, filled with precious songs and each student proudly sharing their aspirations for the future. We discovered a wonderful mix of future teachers, moms, dads, and YouTubers among them! A huge thank you to our amazing Kindergarten team and Jennifer Bush for orchestrating such a charming celebration to cap off their year.
On a personal note, I'm really looking forward to summer and some much-needed relaxation. I kicked off the "unofficial start" with a wonderful camping trip to Salida this past weekend – luckily, we missed the rain that hit the metro area! I have a busy and exciting summer ahead, with more camping trips, a few concerts, a visit home to Houston, and river rafting planned for June and July. I'll also be attending several conferences to continue growing in my role as principal. It's shaping up to be a pretty great summer!
It's hard to believe the school year has already wrapped up – it flew by so quickly! I am incredibly proud and honored to be the principal of this amazing school, supported by such a wonderful community. I hope everyone enjoys a fantastic summer filled with quality family time. I look forward to seeing you back in August!
Smiles,
Erin
