KHS Update
01/24/2025

Principal's Message
First, I want to say thank you for your patience as we struggled to react to the boiler issue on Monday. I definitely did not have that on my bingo card. We appreciate the prompt support from our maintenance department and vendors to get us up and running for Tuesday.
Recall that Monday we will be having the Mid-Term exams originally scheduled for this past Tuesday.
Monday, January 27
Block 1 (Blue) 7:45 - 9:15
Break/Breakfast 9:15 - 9:45
Block 2 (Blue) 9:45 - 11:15
Make-up 11:45 - 2:00
Please also remember that attendance is expected for all academic classes, but students will not be required to attend exam blocks where they have either Study Hall or Skill Center. (Certain circumstances where there has been administrative approval are also places where attendance is not required.) Students not in an exam block should leave the building.
***Please note that students are expected to stay until the end of the exam block, and we are asking families to refrain from calling in to excuse students before the end of each exam period. Dismissals disrupt the testing environment and we ask that it not happen except in extreme circumstances.
Semester 2 will start on Tuesday, January 28th with a White day.
Did you know that KHS students have access to not one, but TWO PHENOMENAL Career and Technical Education (CTE) Centers? It's an amazing opportunity offered to our students. Sanford Regional Technical Center (SRTC) and Biddeford Regional Center of Technology (BRCOT) offer students world class opportunities for hands on learning that we just can't offer here at KHS. I want to be clear, this is not the old traditional Vocational educational programs of years past. These are highly competitive programs that help students get real world skills. Some think that a student taking advantage of these fantastic opportunities makes them ineligible for college or university. On the contrary, these programs often help students demonstrate that they are well rounded and innovative in how they earn credits in high school. I am a HUGE supporter of these programs because I know what they offer. to students. If you are even thinking about CTE as a possibility, I encourage students to go on a tour which can be arranged by your school counseling department.
Also, another quick staffing update. Those watching the Board Agendas with a keen eye saw that we we have FOUR staff members up for approval from the school board. An Assistant Principal, another School Counselor, a interim STEM teacher, and an interim Theater Teacher to replace Mr. St Pierre. This means that if approved, we will likely be fully staffed once their transitions happen.
Finally I want to thank Mr. St. Pierre for his service to the students community of KHS over these past several years. He's moving abroad and we wish him well even though we will miss him.
Peace,
Scott Tombleson (He/Him/His - What is this?)

Dear Parents,
We would like to inform you that, for safety and storage reasons, skis and ski equipment cannot be transported on the school bus during AM or PM school bus routes. The limited space and potential safety hazards prevent us from allowing such items on board.
