DECEMBER 2024
A Note From the Principal
Hello Wabash Community!
It is hard to believe that December is already here! I always tell our students, "Time sure does fly, when you are having fun!" Our teachers and staff are dedicated to providing the best education possible, while maintaining a fun and comfortable environment for our students.
Some reminders:
- In the morning in the car riders line, please do not release the children from their vehicles until the morning staff are on the front sidewalk. The bell alone is not the signal to release from cars. We really like to have staff outside on duty when the children start to exit cars to ensure safety between our students and cars.
- If you have a transportation change for your child(ren), please communicate with our main office so we are aware of the change.
- Please make sure your child(ren) brings their coats, hats and gloves every day, because we still go outside for recess during the winter months. If your child(ren) are in need of winter clothing, please do not hesitate to contact our school counselors. If your family is able to share extra winter coats, gloves and hats, please contact our school counselors as well.
- Our second quarter will be coming to an end on December 20 with report cards being available on the Focus App on January 10.
- Please remember there is no school for students December 23 - January 3. We return to school on January 6. I hope everyone enjoys the winter break with friends and family!
Every Student Matters, Every Moment Counts!

Handwashing prevents illness!
One thing we can always depend on as we go into December is the spread of germs. As you touch people, objects, and surfaces throughout your busy day, your hands accumulate a high volume of germs. To keep yourself and your family safe from germs and infection, make sure you wash your hands regularly. Handwashing is the #1 prevention of illness.
Holiday Sweets
Studies show that people who consume many foods and drinks with added sugar tend to consume more calories than people who consume fewer of these foods. They also show a link between weight gain and drinking sweetened beverages. Cutting back on added sugars, especially from sweetened beverages such as regular soda and juice, can help you and your family maintain a healthy weight.
Added sugar provides calories but no additional nutrients. An eating plan that helps you and your family maintain a healthy weight is one that focuses on getting plenty of nutrients within your calorie needs.
Many children and teens, especially girls, don't get enough calcium, a mineral that's important for strong bones and teeth and other body functions. Giving your children milk instead of sweetened beverages can give their bodies a boost.
Get Moving
Play together: Indoor Snowball Fight
Dump an equal number of “snowballs”in each player’s/team’s area. (Snowballs can be large soft white puff balls or socks rolled in a ball).
Mark areas with a line in the middle. (lay a jump rope on the ground or colored tapethink 2-square or 4-square court).
Set a timer for 2 minutes. *Start the timer, and throw!!! *When the timer goes off, everyone freeze! ***The player/team with the least number of snowballs wins.
REMINDER:
Big Smiles dental team will be at Wabash Dec 9 and 10 for those that signed up for a check & clean. If you would like more information, please contact your school nurse.
