Weekly Wrap-Up #17: 12/20/24
Wrapping up This Week + News for the Weeks to Come
As we leave for Winter Break, I am so grateful and appreciative for our community here. I wish you all moments of peace and quiet with times of celebration and joy. Whatever you need to refill your heart for the new year, I wish you that... Thank you for all you do to make this such a great caring community.
This morning it was hard to restrict access to class parties and activities to only registered volunteers. It is a safety expectation of the district. Parents ALWAYS have the right to come eat lunch with their own child(ren) but only registered volunteers are permitted in classrooms or the cafeteria with all children once school begins. This guideline is to ensure safety for EACH child. Thank you for understanding. Registration to be a volunteer is FREE and good for two years. Volunteer status permits you to be part of field trips, classrooms, and classroom parties. If you'd like to register as a volunteer, please use this link.
Some of our younger kids talked about the "performance" that is happening today in place of the Friday Wrap Up. Our LISA celebration the day before winter break is a tradition and is a fun, light-hearted way to connect kids ACROSS the school. We do not invite families to this as it isn't truly a "performance," but rather a fun and lighhearted way to connect kids and classrooms from across the grade levels. It's not even possible to invite ALL families at one time - I'm sure you've noticed how crowded and full the gym is with just two grade levels for a showcase performance! We know all parents CAN'T attend and we want to protect the hearts of kids whose parents can't be here. This is a community building event for our SCHOOL. It IS intended to be silly school-wide fun. Each grade level performs for about 1-3 minutes. I will include a picture of these groups in our wrap up.
A huge thank you to Ms. Laura Bess and each classroom teacher for putting our traditional celebration together. Despite tech challenges (which I was no help resolving:), we had fun together and made memories.
For convenience sake, I have included the registration link for our Garfield Elementary Arts Academy of 2025 and the course information page.
