Parkway West Marching band
The Parkway West Marching Band has had both a busy and successful start to the season. In addition to three home football games, the band has performed at two contests. At the Seckman High School marching contest on September 14th West was awarded first place in the blue division along with the color guard and visual captions. At the Edwardsville High School contest on September 21st the band placed first in class AA and received the percussion, music, and visual captions. West was also named the class A and AA grand champion for receiving the highest score from the two classes. Upcoming contests include Washington High School on October 5th and Park Hills Central High School on October 19th. You can always learn more about the band program at www.parkwaywestband.com

Here are some reminders when attending events at the stadium or gymnasium on the campus of Parkway West.
Girls Tennis
West High Tennis is currently 8-2. The girls are having a very successful season with some close wins over Lindbergh & Webster. Our #1 doubles team beat Ladue to win our West Doubles Tournament last week. We will go into our district as the 2nd seed in 2 weeks. We are hoping to get a few players qualified for the state tournament.

Boys Swim & Dive
The swim and dive team is off to a great start for the season. They are 3-2 in dual meets during September and excited for October competitions!
The team traveled to the Cape Rock Invitational on 9/14 and finished 3rd place out of 19 team.! They had 10 top 8 medalers and the relays finished 3rd, 4th and 3rd, excellent showing by a young team!
8 swimmers have qualified someone in every event for State including all 3 relays, with more to come. Our 2 divers are qualified for Districts.
Winter Sports begin on Monday 11/4 (Girls & Boys Basketball, Girls wrestling) & Monday 11/11 (Boys wrestling & Girls swim)

2024-25 Boys Basketball Tryout Sign-up
Players, fill out this google form to sign-up for tryouts. Tryouts begin Monday November 4th in the Main Gym.
Tryout Schedule: Grades 9-12:
Monday Nov 4th: 3:00-5:15 p.m. in Main Gym.
Tuesday Nov 5th: 2:30-4:30 p.m. in Main Gym. (NO SCHOOL) VICC students indicate need for transportation
Wednesday Nov 6th: 3:00-5:15 p.m. in Main Gym.
Thursday Nov 7th: 3:00-5:15 p.m. in Main Gym.
Friday Nov 8th: 3:00-5:15 p.m. in Main Gym.

To be able to try out you MUST:
- Create or update your Privit account online so that the Activities Office certifies that you have successfully completed the process (this includes a current physical exam) Privit account must be marked CLEARED
- Go to the Resources section of the Parkway West Athletics webpage for Privit information and directions.
- Any questions or problems with Privit, contact the activities office. 314-415-7556
- You CANNOT participate in any tryout activities until your Privit account is CLEARED.
- All VICC students indicate the need for city transportation on the google form.
- Dress out in the PE locker room before tryouts. Wear athletic shoes and clothes for tryouts. Bring a lock and lock your belongings in the PE locker room. Do not bring your bag or belongings to the gym.
Criteria Used for Determining Player Selection:
- Be on time and attend all tryout sessions
- Basketball skills, abilities, and knowledge
- The ability to hustle and consistently work hard
- Ability to perform team offense and defense
- Coachable – ability to listen and follow directions
- Ability to accept and perform a role necessary for team’s success; Team > Me

- Grades and Citizenship
Since we can only keep a certain number of players, the tryout sessions are extremely important. Give it your best effort. GOOD LUCK!

Eligibility for MSHSAA athletics & activities
All students must be enrolled in at least 3.0 units of credit to be eligible for MSHSAA sponsored activities.
Eligibility is based on semester grades. Students must earn 3.0 units of credit in a semester to be eligible for the next semester.
