Muskego Lakes Family Newsletter
April 27th, 2023
Dear Muskego Lakes Families,
As principals, we want our students to have the best possible educational experience. An important aspect of that experience is whether or not your child feels accepted, empowered, and able to achieve their goals. While there are many reasons why students might come to love their school, understanding these reasons can help to make informed decisions to continue to provide the kind of environment we want for students at Muskego Lakes to learn, grow, and succeed. We also know that when students love their school, they tend to be more engaged, motivated, and successful in their academic pursuits.
As principals, we periodically check in with different students to learn more from them about various topics, and recently we asked what our students love about Muskego Lakes. Here is what we learned:
- "The teachers are fun and kind."
- "We have lots of after-school activities for everyone's interest."
- "School is fun."
- "Lots of choices at lunch"
- "Being with my friends."
- "Community days are so much fun."
- "Muskego Lakes is a safe place to be."
- "Everyone is kind and welcoming."
- "I can get help on my homework in class and at homework club."
- "We do fun activities to learn in classes."
- "It's a loving community."
- "Friday high-fives tunnel"
- "I am encouraged to do my best each day."
- "Lunch is so fun!"
- "Teachers care about me and how I learn."
- "We get to have a voice in things."
- "Muskego Lakes is just a special place."
- "Coming here makes me cared about."
We are proud of what our students shared with us. We will always seek to learn about their experiences here at school to ensure we are living out our vision of "Connecting hearts and minds through acceptance, empowerment, and achievement."
In partnership,
Rachel and Nancy

8th Grade Promotion Updates
Hard to believe that in a few short weeks, it will be the end of the year! The committee members have been hard at work planning the Hawaiian themed 8th grade celebration and we wanted to share with you all some details about the events that will go along with it!
Celebration Day Schedule for Thurs, June 8th
*Special breakfast for the kids in the cafeteria and afterwards they'll have a chance to watch the slideshow with the pictures that were submitted by parents + sign yearbooks
*Walking the halls of the school with all the other grades cheering them on + then taking a 2027 picture outside in the class shirts that they'll receive
*Completion ceremony beginning at 6:30p to approximately 7:15pm in the MLMS gym (tickets aren't required, but we'll need to be mindful of the limited space + 170 graduating students)
*Hawaiian themed dance (voted on by the kids) + celebration immediately following the ceremony in the cafeteria from 7:30-9p
This is high level overview of the last day of school and there will be more details to follow with volunteer opportunities as well as sign-ups for items needed in the upcoming days to help make this day a success! The cost for the shirt, dance, food, etc is $15 per student and you can send in cash or check to the office (please make sure to note that it's for the 8th grade graduation along with your child's name) or you can send payment electronically via Venmo to Becky-Sawallich. If this cost represents a hardship, please contact the office. If you have additional questions, please reach out to me directly at beckyinaz@hotmail.com
