WMS Friday Forecast

Many parents wonder how students learn about the activities that we offer here at Wredling... and we offer a whole bunch! Students learn about them from our Daily Announcements. They watch video announcements each day during 4th, 5th, or 6th period, and also get a digital copy each Monday morning. Parents can view those same announcements on the Wredling website. Please note that our Daily Announcements is a living Google doc that we post to the website each Monday. We add announcements during the week, so it is a good idea to check those announcements once or twice during the week.

This past Wednesday (11/1/23), and moving forward, on the last student attendance Monday of each month starting we will be collecting information about the D303 Strategic Plan Core Value of Belonging. This will be in the form of four to five questions for students in grade levels three through twelve. If you would like to preview the form they are available on the https://district.d303.org/departments/assessment page. Scroll to the D303 Feedback and Surveys link, click, and read the section on Strategic Plan Core Value - Sense of Belonging Check in. The monthly collection of information on this core value will be used to better understand the current and evolving state of student belonging and consider areas for improvement.

Next week, on Monday 11/6/2023, our students will be taking the ThinkCerca writing assessment. This will be the second time we are taking this assessment. Our goal is to use this data to improve our student's writing skills. We know that students who are effective writers will perform better overall on their IAR assessment. This Monday, we will be following this special bell schedule to protect as much instructional time as possible. Please do not plan to pull your students out from 8:40-10:00 am as we cannot interrupt the assessment.

Please consider sending in an item from the Health Office Wish List. On occasion, students visiting the WMS Health Office need more than an ice-pack or a bandage. We keep a limited supply of additional items on hand for emergencies, but need to replenish our stash. Any donations can be sent to the Wredling Main Office labeled for the Health Office.

1. Girls new underwear size JR size 11/12, 13/14 and/or womans small (1 package each)
2. Girls leggins size JR small/medium,large (a couple each)
3. bottled water mini bottles (1 case a month)
4. gold fish crackers ( 1 case month)
5. plain white socks for girls/boys (1 pack of each)
6. juice boxes (10 cases)
7. granola bars with no nuts ( 1 box a month)
8. saltine crackers (family size box a month)
9. dental wax ( a few packages of three or five)

This award is given by our teachers for a variety of reasons, from following our Guidelines for Success to Academic Achievement and Growth. We are proud of our RedHawks who work hard every day.

Attention 6th grade parents! WEB is hosting an event for all 6th graders on Thursday, November 16th from 3:45 to 4:45 in the Black Box. We will be watching the movie Minions (the first one) and doing some fun and engaging fall activities, and there will be a popcorn bar with candy for them to enjoy during the movie! Students can get their permission slips from their tutorial teachers and turn their permissions slips in to their team leader or Mrs. Whittaker by Friday November 10th. Hope your 6th grader can join us for this fun event!

The yearbook club is looking for pictures of life at WMS (halloween, clubs, sports, activities, concerts, play, competitions). Students or parents can submit photos directly from their phone using THIS LINK (pass code=redhawks) or emailed to Mr. Massie (timothy.massie@d303.org).
