Spartan News- 09/27/24
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I’d like to thank all of the families who were able to attend the Open House/Back to School night on Tuesday. It was invigorating and affirming to see parents and guardians hustling through the hallways and joining the presentations by the teachers. The teachers truly enjoyed meeting with you to convey the arc of their courses and their expectations for students, to share their enthusiasm for their content matter, and to express their joy to work with your children. We look forward to seeing you at events throughout the school year.
At the School Committee meeting last night, we delivered a presentation on MCAS. I know that the students, parents, and guardians understand the importance of MCAS as a graduation requirement, but I also wanted to reinforce that we track the students’ progress very closely and make every effort to provide the supports students need to meet with success. Please feel free to contact us at any time if you have any questions or concerns around this important assessment and graduation requirement.
The district will be hosting a community informational session from 6:00 - 7:30 on Tuesday, October 2nd at the district office in Stockbridge for the MMH Building Project. This meeting will be both in-person and virtual. We encourage parents and guardians to attend to learn more about what is going on, the current proposals, and how the decision making process will unfold.
The MMH Student Government is planning two events for next week. We will have a pep rally on Friday afternoon at the end of the day, followed by a home football game Friday evening. On Saturday evening, we will hold the Homecoming at MMH, and it will start at 7:00.
We are a month into the school year, and we hope that your child is having a positive experience, learning new things, and being challenged. If you haven’t done so recently, please check in with your child on how school is going. Which classes do they feel are particularly interesting or engaging? How are they feeling about their academic performance? Is there anything that they need or anything we can do to support them? These are all good questions, and we would welcome any feedback.
Thank you for partnering with us, and enjoy the beautiful Autumn weekend in the Berkshires.
Go Spartans!

Message from our Assistant Principal: Mr. Lurgio
It was great to see so many parents and guardians at Open House this week. Thank you for taking the time to meet all of us!
Message from our Assistant Principal: Mr. Brown
This week I want to shout out Gordie Soule and April Hoskeer! Gordie and April are not only fantastic educators and mentors, but this week they facilitated a cohort of students attending the Women in Conservation, Agriculture and Trades Conference at the April Hill Education and Conservation Center. The event was organized by our community partner Greenagers and was…AWESOME!!!
During the day of workshops, our students got their “hands dirty”...learning and engaging as a group about the soil food web, the importance of pollinators, and even tree climbing to get a better view of an arborist’s world!!! It was an incredibly rewarding experience for all.
Thanks Gordie and April…above and beyond.

Every day you can come check it out, but only if you have a pass.
There is a variety of gently used clothing for you to choose from, in situations when you need it most.

Cat fur on your hoodie? We’ve got hoodies.
Split your pants? We’ve got pants.
Keep your eyes and ears posted for more dates and times that it will be open.
We are also continuing to collect gently used clothes, so go through your closet and donate what you no longer wear!
PSAT Registration Confirmation
All Juniors who have registered for the PSAT on October 28th have received a confirmation email to their school email account. The exam will begin promptly at 8:00am. More information, including room assignments, will be determined and sent to you prior to the exam date.
School Chromebooks will be used for all 51 students taking the PSAT. Students who are currently borrowing a school Chromebook should plan to bring it on test day, fully charged. Students who typically use a personal device will be provided with a school Chromebook on test day.
