Open Communication
The first point of contact for students and families should be the classroom teacher. We encourage you to keep an open communication with your child’s teachers throughout the school year. This can be done via google classroom, telephone, email, their website, monthly class memos, Twitter, etc. Developing and maintaining that positive school/family relationship is essential.
Attendance
We are seeing a significant increase in students arriving late for school or leaving early at the end of the day. We do understand that at times this cannot be prevented, but we do want to remind all of our families that classes start promptly at 8:40 AM each day and dismissal is not until 2:45 PM each day. It is important to remember that attendance is directly tied to student achievement and we want to ensure that each and every student at Roncalli performs to their maximum potential or beyond. It is important that students are on time for classes each day and that they are here for the full instructional day. Consistent attendance is crucial for academic and social success, as it ensures that students are actively engaged and able to fully benefit from the educational opportunities we provide. When students attend school consistently, they not only keep up with their lessons and assignments, but they also develop important life skills such as responsibility, time management, and perseverance. Being present and engaged in the classroom and school allows students to participate in discussions, collaborate with peers, and build strong relationships.
Celebrating the Lunar New Year - Year of the Snake
Lunar New Year is spectacular, loud, and for many cultures across Asia the most important festival of the year. Each and every year here at Roncalli some of our classes take this opportunity to learn about this cultural event. Below are some pictures of how we celebrated this year.

Kinderstart Session
We had another successful kinderstart session on Friday, January 31. We were so excited to see all of our little rockets once again, and so proud of the great job they did!
Winter Fun
Now that the winter weather is here, we ask that you please remind your child the importance of safe play. We want the children to go outside and enjoy the fresh air playing in the snow, but the throwing of snow/snowballs will not be tolerated, as this is very dangerous and accidents can happen very easily.
Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week
Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week is February 9 - 15th. We are blessed at Roncalli to have an amazingly committed group of educators and staff working with our students each and every day. We are trying to put together a few small things to say thank you to our teachers and staff for their amazing hard work. This is the one week out of the school year that we want to do a few little extra things to show our appreciation for all that our teachers and staff do for the students and families of Roncalli. If you are interested in helping out in any way please contact Ms. Pearce via phone or email trinapearce@nlschools.ca or any of our school council members.
Have a wonderful week everyone!
