Dear Lake Forest Community High School,
Happy Friday! With Thanksgiving a couple of weeks away, I wanted to defer most of my message to reminding everyone to consider FILLING OUT A GOOD GOBBLE THANK YOU TO STAFF . With only 10 days left, I would love to share grateful messages from our community to our staff right before they leave for Thanksgiving! It is quick and easy, and you can fill out as many as you would like!
Please encourage your Scout to fill them out as well.
There is a ton to celebrate–read on–and remember, send your shout outs and community information to both Elisa Smith (esmith@lfschools.net) or me (elenart@lfschools.net), so that we never miss a beat!
Your proud principal,
Erin

Athletics
Girls Cross Country finished 18th in Class 2A this past weekend at the IHSA State Finals - Way to go Girls!
Winter sports for dance, cheer, girls & boys basketball, wrestling, and gymnastics are all underway with boys swim/dive scheduled to begin the last week of November.
Shout out to all the Lake Forest Athletic Department game workers - ticket takers, supervisors, scoreboard and pressbox operators, announcers, grounds crew, parking lot attendants, Dean's office, police and ambulance - THANK YOU for all of your amazing support as we have been hosting multiple state series events and your work is so very much appreciated.
The Student-Athlete Leadership Team (SALT) had the privilege of meeting with sports psychologist Dr. Elizabeth Lombardo this week. Dr. Lombardo offered valuable insights into mental resilience, performance under pressure, and strategies for fostering a healthy mindset both on and off the field. Dr. Lombardo’s expertise provided SALT members with tools to enhance their leadership roles and support their teams effectively. Thank you Dr. Lombardo for meeting with our athletes!
Author Visit Toya Wolfe
LFHS had the pleasure of welcoming acclaimed author Toya Wolfe for a special visit. Wolfe, known for her award-winning novel "Last Summer on State Street," engaged with students and faculty, sharing insights into her writing journey and the themes of her work. "Last Summer on State Street" is a poignant coming-of-age story set in Chicago's Robert Taylor Homes, reflecting Wolfe's own upbringing. The novel has received critical acclaim, including praise from The New York Times Book Review, and has won multiple awards, such as the Pattis Family Foundation Chicago Book Award.
Wolfe's visit provided LFHS students with a unique opportunity to connect with a prominent literary figure and gain deeper understanding of the creative process behind her celebrated work. Thank you Toya for spending your morning with our students and staff!

Outdoor Ed and Hungry Monkey
Outdoor Ed classes teamed up with Ms. Cindy Kienzle and her daughter Lily (LFHS junior) from Hungry Monkey Baking Company to make a Triple Chocolate Brownie...using camping stoves.
The results were excellent. There is a seasoned touch required to perfecting these in the kitchen and an extra challenge needed to perfect the baking portion using camping stoves. The students in all classes were outstanding. Big THANK YOU to our friends from Hungry Monkey. Their knowledge, passion and enthusiasm made the experience extra special.
Theater - ALIBIS
When eccentric billionaire J. Leslie Arlington is murdered, a clueless detective finds the suspects are all reluctant to admit their alibis...because they were all committing other ridiculous crimes at the time. You never know what's coming next when your suspects include disgruntled chefs, teen detectives, and vengeful divas, but one thing's for certain: every alibi is absolutely absurd.
“The Alibis” runs 7 p.m. Nov. 14-16 in the Little Theater.
Seating is reserved. Doors open at 6:30 pm.
Student cost is $6 online / $9 at the door. (Free with activity pass)
Veterans Day Assembly
LFHS had our annual Veterans Day Assembly on Monday. The RMA filled with students and veterans, all gathered to honor and celebrate those who served. Our talented school band performed songs from each branch of the Armed Forces creating a powerful atmosphere of unity and respect. Senior Rose Meyer, with her beautiful voice, sang "America the Beautiful," adding an emotional and inspiring touch to the ceremony and our talented Foresters sang "The Star Spangled Banner". It was a day to remember and a powerful tribute to our veterans.
