Important Updates
World Kindness Week
November 13th is world kindness day! This is such a fun day to focus on kindness! But why only focus on kindness for one day? We are putting the focus on all things kindness for the whole week next week (11/11-11/15). There will be a theme each day to promote the week (see flyer below). Many classrooms will be participating in Kindness activities, and you can participate as a family as well! Please see opportunities to share in the following flyers.
CogAT Assessment
3rd and 5th graders will take the CogAT test during the mornings of November 12th - 14th. Parents, please ensure your child has a good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast in preparation. Please click HERE for a more detailed letter.
Social Work Update
Hi Davis Families! It is important to us at Davis Elementary that we provide a community of care and support to our families, especially when faced with financial hardship.
We want to make you aware of a number of supports that we have available through our school, intended specifically for parents who are of low-income or who are struggling financially.
The supports available include: the Northern Illinois Food Bank "Backpack Program," Thanksgiving Meal Support, and Holiday Support Programs. Please take a moment to view the form below to gain information on what is offered! If you have any questions please reach out to Christine Amoni, school social worker, at christine.amoni@d303.org or 331-228-5371.

5th Grade News
5TH Grade Judicial Assembly
5th graders have been working hard to learn about the Constitution in both ELA and Social Studies. Students have discussed why the Constitution was written, the rights we are granted under the Constitution, and about all of the compromises that took place during the Third Continental Congress. This week, students were lucky enough to learn more from Judge Lark Cowart. During her visit, 5th graders learned more about the rights provided by the Constitution, and how they apply in her work as a judge in Kane County.
Leroy Oakes Field Trip
5th Grade students enjoyed a fall field trip with perfect weather this week! They explored nature, played games with friends, and had a lot of fun in the great outdoors!
Orchestra Concert
On Friday October 25th 5th grade orchestra students had a concert with Thompson Middle School and they sounded great! They got to talk with current 6th graders about middle school and even got to tour the school.
News from the Nurse
Third Grade Families…
In an effort to keep our medical information current and updated, we are requesting that the Health Surveys be completed, signed and returned to the Health Office by November 1st. This will assist us in giving your child the best care by knowing what concerns you may have. If there is something that needs more information, Leeanna or myself may reach out to you for a brief conversation. There are quite a few students for whom we have not received this form, so please send it to school as soon as possible. Thank you in advance for partnering with us. Please call with any questions.
