Greetings parents! While it is chilly out right now, there are signs that Spring is starting to appear! Spring is around the corner and learning is in full swing here at Spring Hill Intermediate. As you may know, this is the time of year that students make the most academic and social learning gains. It is also an important time for reminders about healthfulness as we want all children here, on time, every day to maximize their potential. We encourage all of our families to check our web page on a regular basis for information about academics, upcoming activities, and teacher contact information.

The Intermediate campus won the Best Attendance Award Trophy for the month of August, September, October, & December!!!! Keep up the good attendance Spring Hill Intermediate!!!

Each month, students' names with perfect attendance will be placed into a drawing to be a Burger King and Queen! Each King and Queen will receive a full family meal from Burger King, and of course, a crown to wear. 👑 All students who have perfect attendance for this time period will receive a Burger King ice cream coupon as well! Thank you to Burger King for sponsoring our Perfect Attendance goals!

One of our most important goals for our campus is to close achievement gaps, make sure that our students are performing on grade level and to provide challenging instruction . The 88th Texas Legislative session passed H.B. 114 and adds the following to the Texas Education Code:

...a student SHALL be removed from class and PLACED IN A DISCIPLINARY ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM... if the student: possess, uses, sells, gives, or delivers to another person an e-cigarette within 300 feet of school property...or while attending a school-sponsored or school related activity on or off school property.

With the passage of this new legislation the student code of conduct is updated to make vaping violations result in removal from campus and placement at a disciplinary alternative education program (DAEP) on the first offense. The legislation also clarifies that vaping at school sponsored events off of campus, including district vehicles, will result in a DAEP placement.

Parents, please discuss with your child both the negative effects of using a vape or e-cigarette and the consequences of possessing a vape or e-cigarette on campus or campus sponsored events.
