A message from our principal
Dear Charger Families,
At Overbrook Attendance Center, the safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority. As part of our comprehensive safety plan, we will be conducting a practice lockdown drill on February 5, 2025 . The purpose of this drill is to help our students and staff practice the steps they would take to stay safe in the unlikely event of an emergency.
We understand that discussing these topics with young children requires care and sensitivity. To support our elementary students, we focus on:
- Using Simple and Reassuring Language: Explaining that drills are a way to practice being safe, just like fire drills.
- Clear Communication: Helping students understand what to do in a calm and age-appropriate way.
- Visual Aids: Using pictures and demonstrations to show where to go and what to do.
- Addressing Questions and Anxieties: Encouraging students to share their thoughts and feelings, and reassuring them that these drills are only a precaution.
- Regular Practice: Helping students feel more comfortable and prepared through routine practice.
We encourage families to discuss the drill at home and emphasize that these practices are an important part of keeping everyone safe. If your child has specific concerns or anxieties, please don’t hesitate to reach out to their teacher.
Thank you for partnering with us to ensure a safe and nurturing environment for our students.
Warm Regards,
Mrs. Bolt

Important Sack Lunch Reminder
Dear Parents,
While we do provide microwaves in the lunchroom, our staff is spending a significant amount of time preparing meals that require water, stirring, or monitoring—especially for our younger students who cannot do this independently. With the many other lunchroom responsibilities, such as opening milk cartons, assisting with condiments and the salad bar, cleaning up spills, and responding to student needs, it has become increasingly difficult to manage meal preparation as well.
At this time, we kindly ask that parents send sack lunch items that do not require heating or additional preparation by an adult. Unfortunately, we do not have the staffing capacity to continue assisting with meal prep for sack lunches.
Thank you for your understanding and support!
