at Sun Prairie East High School
MOST IMPORTANT INFO!
On Monday April 8th, all bands in Sun Prairie grades 6 - 12 will join forces for a combined concert in the Sun Prairie High School East Fieldhouse. Important details:
- Location: Sun Prairie East High School
- Warm-Up / Attendance: 6:30pm in Field House
- Concert Begins: 7pm
- Dress: CH Concert Shirt, Black pants, socks, & shoes
- Quick tip: get there early if possible - parking gets full
The concert concludes with a massed-band performance of "On Wisconsin."
ALL STUDENTS - Bring your instrument & music!
Students should plan on brining their instruments home on Monday 4/8 after school (7th grade could bring them on Friday 4/5 since they don't have band on Monday).
PERCUSSION (6th & 7th Grade only) - bring your home xylophone kit so you can play On Wisconsin
*Practice putting this together and apart a few times before Monday
*8th Grade - we'll have equipment there for you to play on.
LARGE INSTRUMENTS (Tubas, Euphoniums, Horn, Large Saxophones, etc..) - either bring your home practice instrument (make sure it's working) or plan on getting your school instrument there.
Driving & Parking Tips & Map
There will be hundreds of people driving to SP East on this day - here's some quick tips.
1. Get there early (if possible) - attendance is at 6:30pm in the Fieldhouse, but closer to 6pm will make life easier
2. Driving Directions - look at map below
- Option #1 - take Hwy N South past main entrance and turn onto "Educator Lane"
- Option #2 - take the back entrance off Linnerud Dr
3. Parking - avoid the hot spots
- Option #1 - park in the lower teacher's lot south of school, enter Door 16
- Option #2 - park in lot closest to swimming pool & athletic fields, enter Door 16 or 22

5th Grade Band Beginnings!
Know any 5th graders that are ready and interested in being in Band next year? Here's some important dates to look out for.
Band Staff & Ward Brodt Music visited all Elementary schools on March 18 - 20 to sample various mouthpieces with students to see what is a good fit and what they are most interested in playing.
5th Grade Percussion Workshops - anyone interested in trying out for percussion
- Tuesday April 15 @ PMMS, 3:45 - 4:45pm
- Wednesday April 16 @ PVMS, 3:45 - 4:45pm
- @ student's future middle school
- 4 - 5:30pm (first come, first serve - email if you have a specific time need)
5th Grade Instrument Fittings - decide what instrument you'll play next year!

CH Band performs at Wisconsin Herd Basketball Game!
On Saturday March 16th, about twenty CH Band students went to Oshkosh Arena to play for a sold out crowd for the Wisconsin Herd Professional Basketball Team (the G-League, or minor league team for the Bucks). Students played great and had a blast!

CH Jazz Updates
Final Performance:
- Swing Into Spring Jazz Extravaganza, Friday April 5th, 7pm @ Patrick Marsh Middle School
- CH Jazz performs around 7:45pm
Remaining Schedule:
- Tuesday 4/9 - no rehearsal
- Thursday 4/11 - final rehearsal (breakfast party - bring food to share!!!)
After that Jazz becomes optional (TUESDAYS ONLY) - we'll focus on learning more standard jazz melodies and improvisations. Let Mr. Melrose know your plans either way.
