Making an Appeal for Your Assistance
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Last week, the boys' restroom in the 6th-grade hallway was intentionally damaged. Pictures of the damage are included below. This destruction of school property is serious and may result in disciplinary consequences, including possible suspension. Additionally, the student responsible may face monetary restitution—up to $2,500 or the fair market value of the damaged property—or assignment to a school work project, in accordance with Maryland Law § 7-305(h) and COMAR 13A.08.01.11.D.
Unfortunately, due to safety concerns, we must keep the restroom closed until repairs are completed. This is in addition to the current closure of the boys' restroom in the 7th grade hallway (also due to vandalism). These closures have caused significant inconvenience for all students, many of whom must now leave class for an extended period to find an available restroom. This not only disrupts their learning but can also impact their health.
Please take a moment to discuss with your son the seriousness of these actions and the impact they have on the school community. We will assign maximum consequences to any student found vandalizing the restrooms, as we have already issued school-wide warnings on this matter. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Online Emergency Information Update Messaging
Effective communication is critical to the success of St. Mary’s County Public Schools (SMCPS). This will be crucial not only for emergencies but for our ability to communicate with families in general. Online Emergency Information Update Forms are now available through the student’s Home Access Center (HAC). Once logged in, directions to access the online form can be found HERE. A video with instructions is available HERE. It is vital that all information is updated in eSchool. The deadline for the online submission of Emergency Information Update forms is October 31st, 2024. Please click here for the Blank Emergency Form. If you have any questions, please contact The Department of Student Services at 301-475-5511 ext.32150.
