Raider Update
November 19, 2023
Message from the Superintendent
Raider Families and Staff,
The month of November and the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday provide a reminder of the many things and people that we’re thankful for. In this season of gratitude, I’m incredibly grateful for the following and so, so much more.
Technology Levy Support - Thank you!!!
Thank you for investing in our students and for your trust and support. The technology levy will be allocated to student learning (64%) and to safety and security (36%). While the election is over, I realize that you may still have questions. Please feel free to contact me at any time for additional information or to answer any remaining questions.
Board Member Election - Thank you to all the candidates who ran for 2024 Hastings School Board seats and for your passion for ISD #200. Thank you to all of our voters who made casting your ballot a priority. As you may have heard, there will be recount of the school board election ballots on Monday, November 20 at 8am in the Dakota County Government Center. This will be conducted by the Dakota County Auditor and is an open meeting. Additional details are posted on our website.
Veterans Day - Thank you to all who contributed to ensuring the 2023 program was a memorable tribute to our area veterans. There was a sense of overwhelming gratitude for our music department, VFW Post 1210, our keynote speaker, Stephanie Malm, our student body for the amazing level of respect they demonstrated, and most importantly, our veterans.
Hastings ISD Staff - Thank you for working tirelessly to meet the needs of each and every one of our students. I recently heard that a former superintendent (Ken LaCroix) often expressed his gratitude to all, noting that the staff of a school district are like a wagon wheel with every spoke representing an area of our district. Each spoke was reviewed as being equally important with the overall function of the wheel dependent on each and every spoke. I couldn’t agree more. Thank you to all our staff and thank you Ken!
Parents of ISD 200 - Thank you for entrusting ISD 200 with your most precious gift(s). We are here to serve and to ensure that students have the best possible experience. Please feel free to reach out with feedback. Partnering together makes our district stronger.
Finally, as I near my 120th day mark in Hastings, thank you for all you have done to welcome me into this Raider Nation.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Dr. Tamara Champa
Superintendent
