New Albany Intermediate School
Family Update- August 19, 2024
Dear Intermediate Families,
We had a wonderful first day of school today with students with last names A-K and we look forward to welcoming students with last names that begin with L-Z to school tomorrow! On the days the students are at home, there is no need to log into Schoology to look for assignments since those will not be e-Learning days. All Intermediate students will attend school on Wednesday, August 21st!
Please take the time to read through the updates below as we listed important information regarding student arrival and dismissal, lunch visitors, bicycle safety and information on our upcoming Picture Day on Friday, August 23rd. Don't ever hesitate to reach out with any questions as we navigate the beginning of the school year!
Let's make it a wonderful year!

Important Updates
Information for 6th Grade Families
Breakfast will be served in the New Albany Intermediate cafeteria between 9:05 - 9:20 am for students to purchase and take with them to eat during homeroom. Students should not grab the breakfast that is located at New Albany Middle School as this is only for seventh and eighth grade students.
Student Lunch Badges
Lunch Visitors
To protect the health and well-being of all students, we ask that lunch visitors only bring food for their own child or the person they are visiting for lunch. Parents wanting to eat lunch with their child need to contact the school office one day prior to their visit as there is limited seating for lunch visitors.
You can call the school office at 614-741-3000 to RSVP for a spot at the next day’s lunch.
Start & End Times
The student school day in grades four, five and six is 8:25 am - 3:00 pm.
Student arrival is 8:15 - 8:25 am. Please note that there will not be staff supervision until 8:15 am so please do not drop your child off at school until 8:15 am.
Student dismissal begins at 3:00 pm. If you will be picking up your child from school, please do not line up in the pickup line until after 2:30 pm as secondary dismissal occurs before this time.
Arrival & Dismissal Procedures
Parents who drop off or pick up children for school should plan to arrive in time to drop off or collect students at your building’s designated time. We ask all drivers to please pull up as far as possible in the waiting lines to allow for the children to be dropped-off and picked-up in the most efficient way possible. A tall white sign marked with the New Albany logo is at the furthest point of our loops to designate the initial drop off/pick up point.
To ensure the safety of all students, please observe the following:
Remain in your vehicle.
Children must leave/enter your vehicle on the curb side only.
Patiently wait in line – our goal is to always have our children arrive and leave school in the safest way possible.
If your child is already with you, please remain in line to wait your turn to leave the pick-up/drop-off circle.
If you need to meet your child personally at the building, please park your car in the appropriate lot. For the Intermediate School, that is the lot behind the Primary gymnasium. Parents are unable to park in the interior McCoy parking lot and walk up to meet your child. Please use the lot behind the Primary gymnasium if you need to meet your child personally.
PLEASE NOTE: Traffic in all loops must continue to flow. Cars may stop just long enough to safely load or unload children. To prevent accidents, only one lane or line of cars is permitted. Please exercise patience and courtesy to keep our students safe.
Visitor & Volunteer Parking
Accessed from Route 605 by turning on Kardules Fields Way, the main driveway permits entry to New Albany Intermediate School.
PLEASE NOTE: BUS LOOP INFO: During the school day, parking is NOT permitted along the curbs in front of the main entrance. Parking is permitted in the allocated spaces near the flag pole and in the bus spaces at the Intermediate School between 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Parking is permitted in official parking spaces only. Additional parking can be found behind the Primary School gymnasium. You will need to enter the main entrance doors. Please do not park in areas designated for school staff – these spaces are numbered or marked as “RESERVED.”
Bicycle & Scooter Safety
If you have a bike or scooter rider at home, PLEASE take a few minutes to review these safety reminders with them at home.
Please review these New Albany specific reminders:
When crossing the street, push the button & WAIT for traffic to stop before crossing.
Do NOT ride across the street or intersection, walk your bike/scooter across.
Do NOT ride through the Market Street parking lot where cars are parking and leaving spots and may not see you.
Only one person is permitted on a bike/scooter.
