BEH Weekly Family Message
January 13th, 2025
Weekly Recap
Summary of the Week:
Last week, all classes reviewed the expectations for class, common spaces, and specific routines throughout the day. Additionally, we worked to remind students of our core values and how they connect to our expectations. In case you want to lean into the conversations at home, our core values at BEH are Community, Integrity, and Perseverance and we were specifically connecting them to keeping your hands and body to yourself, using kind words, and being where you are supposed to be.
We look forward to continuing to build off of these lessons and work as a building to have consistent language and responses around these expectations across all grade levels.

What to Watch for This Week:
Free Dress This Week:
Our students earned free dress this week by exceeding their food donation goal for our PTA Food Drive in December. Students can wear free dress for this entire week. Next week we will return to uniforms Monday-Thursday.
2nd Grade Swimming:
Our 2nd grade starts our weekly swim lessons this week. If you have a second grader, please make sure they everything they need for their lessons this week. The actual lessons are at Dishman from 11:00-11:30, but we will be leaving around 10:45 and returning to BEH around 11:45 on their swim day (Tuesday or Thursday). Swim lessons start this week and end in March.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Assembly:
We will have an assembly to honor Dr. King this Wednesday in the gym at 1:30 pm. Our student council will be facilitating this assembly and our Kindergarten, 2nd grade, and 4th grade will be sharing some of what they have been learning about Dr. King.
Looking to the Weeks Ahead:
Lost and Found:
If your student has lost any coats or other clothing this quarter, make sure and come and check the lost and found in the hall outside the office by Friday January 24th. We will be donating any clothing left in the lost and found to the PPS clothing closet following that day. This will allow us to start fresh at the beginning of the third quarter and clear out all of the unclaimed clothing that has been there all quarter.
Student Clubs:
Our new Student Council would like to work on adding weekly clubs to BEH and are interested in learning skills such as a second language, sports, photography, yearbook, etc. If you or a family member have a specific skill and some consistent weekly time that you could help teach/run a club, please let me know what club you would be interested in facilitating and if there is a regular day that could work right after school. If you have ideas or other thoughts around this, please share it with us. We would love to support our students' interests and provide some additional enrichment for them to learn some new skills after school moving forward.
Jefferson Baseball Camp:
Our BEH 5th graders are invited to a Baseball Camp at Jefferson High School on Saturday, January 18th, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Clarence Richmond, the Head Baseball Coach at Jefferson High School, would like to contribute to building the skills of any BEH students considering playing baseball for the Jefferson cluster in middle school and wants to help them to be ready for the summer of 2025.
Here is a flyer to learn more and register.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me at geraldbolden@yahoo.com, or Clarence Richmond at crichmond@pps.net
