A Note from Your Principals
Thankful Thursdays
Based on the success of our physical “Thankful Thursdays” over the past three years, and thanks to a continued partnership between the PTO and our Sunshine Committee, “Thankful Thursdays” have returned! Each Thursday in March features a special whole staff appreciation event!
Last week our theme was "Green Eggs and Ham" and we provided hot bagel breakfast sandwiches, coffee, juice, and fruit to all staff. Yesterday's theme was a "Lucky Duck" scavenger hunt and 100 mini rubber ducks were hid throughout the building. When a duck was found, it was turned into the Main Office for one of many awesome prizes! We still have a "March Madness" and "Bloom Bar" theme to go!
Our goal is to connect these days with our efforts to bring our RULER Charter to life, as well with our gratitude campaign. We hope these days help ALL staff feel supported, valued, connected, and respected!
You can help make the remainder of March gratitude filled. We'd love all our families to submit a "Thankful Thursday" shoutout (or two!) using the quick Google Form below!
Volunteers Needed!
South Windsor Public Schools is excited to welcome our 2025 - 2026 Kindergarten class! Your child is about to take an exciting next step in their education. We are looking forward to the beginning of a collaborative partnership between home and school in order to provide a successful transition for both your child and your family.
The South Windsor full-day kindergarten program is available to children who are residents of South Windsor and who are (or will be) age five (5) on or before September 1, 2025.
*If your child’s birthday is after September 1, 2025, and you would like them considered for kindergarten this fall, you may fill out the pre-registration form and check the appropriate box and the principal will schedule an assessment to determine if admitting your child would be developmentally appropriate.
If you have a child, or know someone who does, that is eligible for Kindergarten for the 2025-26 school year, please visit the link below! There you will find information about the registration process (and be able to begin registration), find answers to commonly asked questions, and learn a bit more about Eli Terry!
"Make a Change" Mini-Grant Opportunity
We are thrilled to announce that the Make a Change (MAC) Grants, sponsored by SW Youth & Family Services, are available once again!
This grant encourages students to put their ideas into action. There are wonderful projects that are dreamed up, but they often come with barriers, including funding. This mini grant program gives students the opportunity to see their idea come to life! We are looking for the following type of projects:
1.Promote and/or inspire kindness
2. Contribute to positive mental health and/or emotional wellness
3. Support inclusion and respect
4. Encourage a positive school community
The proposals can come from one student, a group of students or a classroom of students that currently attend South Windsor schools. The grant must be approved by a building principal/administration before submitting.
Below you will find the flyer with application links, along with a detailed description of the MAC Grant.
It is a quick turnaround – with applications due no later than Friday, April 5th.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.
