News from the Health Office
Now that summer break is over, we want to remind you to update your students' school health information with the school nurse. Please make sure your students are up to date on their childhood immunizations. Those students with chronic health conditions such as asthma, life-threatening allergies, diabetes, and seizures should see their medical providers and update their school health information.
Please help us to prepare for your student’s safety at school by:
- Having your medical provider fax your student’s health condition plan to school
- Completing the appropriate medical release and health condition questionnaire forms by visiting https://www.spps.org/families/student-health-wellness
Please include as much information on the forms as you can so we can send them to the appropriate medical provider. Forms may be emailed to james.johnston@spps.org or dropped off at the Washington Health Office.

News from Washington High School Athletics
The fall sports season is well under way. We have students competing in Cross County, Football, Boys' Soccer, Girls' Soccer, Girls' Swim & Dive, Girls' Tennis, and Girls' Volleyball.
A highlight of the season was on Saturday, 9/7/24. when the football team opened their first home opener with Como-Washington Co-Op. Cross Country team members from both schools relayed the game ball to commemorate the union of the school for football. Como Park-Washington took on MPLS Camden; they battled but couldn't punch the ball in for touchdowns despite getting in the red zone 4 times.
Como Park and Washington competed against each other in Boys' Varsity Soccer for the Rice Street Sign. Washington was able to secure the sign after defeating Como Park 5-2. Awal Wako put on a goal-scoring show connecting on 4 of the goal.
