Cheongju's First Youth Basketball Team
"Aim to participate in an official competition without one person falling behind."
The Assistance For Youth project, which is under way to develop Korean youth basketball since 2022. Cheongju Dream Team Basketball Class, which is working on this project, has established a women's girls' national team and is focusing on practice with the aim of participating in the official competition.
The Cheongju Dream Team Basketball Class has been revitalizing the men's national team for more than two years and is currently operating the national team very systematically. The men's national team of the Cheongju Dream Team Basketball Class, which has already stabilized, has continued to cruise, winning its first victory of the year against rival Hyundai Mobis on the 5th.
In April, Kim Dong-woo, the director of the Cheongju Dream Team, who has been unable to open his eyes just by running the men's national team and basketball class, began to put into practice what he had been thinking only about with his head. Director Kim, who had been aware that there was no girls' team for girls in Cheongju, founded the Cheongju Dream Team Youth Team in early April.
Unlike the men's national team, which teaches by grade, the Cheongju Dream Team, which has young girls from various grades from 2nd to 6th grade in elementary school, is currently being trained once a week by players from all grades in elementary school.토토사이트 순위
"I've been thinking about it since I ran the men's national team. There are no girls' team in Cheongju, and there are many questions about the girls' team internally," Kim Dong-woo said. "There are more girls interested in basketball than I thought because there are KB Stars in Cheongju. When we first created the girls' national team, we started training with two students, but now the number of players has increased to 12 as word of mouth has spread," he said.
Director Kim Dong-woo said that he made yellow uniforms for children because there were many KB Stars fans in Cheongju. Perhaps because of Director Kim's sincerity, the children are also silently following the difficult training.
"All 12 children who are currently training know how to do layups on their left and right hands, and are also training hard on basic skills such as dribbling and shooting. As I am aiming to participate in an official competition with my children within this year, I am receiving the same formal training as other boys. So it may be even more difficult, but they are following along very hard. As much as I am training hard, I want to let my children participate in the competition within this year when they are ready to some extent so that they can gain practical experience," said Kim Dong-woo.
Although Cheongju created the first female U-girls' national team, it was not just fun. Kim Dong-woo, who had been teaching only male students, was unfamiliar with female student guidance. Of course, trial and error occurred, and Kim experienced many situations for the first time.
"There was no choice but to be different from boys. They were more delicate and influenced by every word they said. That's why I pay extra attention to my words and actions (laughs) when I teach female students. It's a difficult part, but since there are no major problems yet, I think there will be more training sessions tailored to female students going forward," Kim Dong-woo said.
Kim Dong-woo, who is also preparing customized training programs for the advancement of the women's national team, said, "Children sometimes feel tired or bored because the training is not focused on playing games. Still, they have overcome the difficulties and are following me diligently. Intensive training will be added from now on, and I hope that all the 12-member team will succeed in participating in the official competition together until the end without leaving a single player," he said, urging his students not to give up and stay with him until the end.
