SMMS Weekly Update

This newsletter will serve as the last installment for the 2023-2024 school year. Weekly newsletters will resume on August 2, 2024.

Our 8th grade celebrated the end of the school year with a semi-formal dance on Friday, May 17. Thanks to Mr. Hartka and all of the other staffulty members and students who helped make this event possible!

All 8th grade students will receive their high school schedules at the start of their 9th grade year. Additionally, there may be summer assignments associated with their 9th grade courses.

• Please see the attached assignment if your 8th grade student enrolled in Honors English 9.
• There is no summer Assignment for AP World History per Mr. Mauck the AP World History teacher.

Reminder to all parents of 6th graders. The Tdap and Meningitis vaccines are required for all students entering 7th grade. Please make your appointment now to have these completed and submit an updated copy of your child's immunization record to Mrs. Dagostino, School Nurse.

On Tuesday, our students enjoyed ice cream on the patio as recognition for their efforts on the WVGSA. Way to try your best on the test.

Thanks to all of our students who entered the Bedington Ruritan Essay Contest. This year, students wrote about an important role model in their lives.

This past week, Ms. Stone challenged her students to use their math skills for a Lego Build Challenge.

We welcomed future Patriots this week and took them on a brief tour of our building. O

On May 23, our 8th grade students enjoyed their annual trip to Hershey Park. Thanks to all of our parent chaperones.

On May 22, the 8th grade students took on their much older counterparts for bragging rights.

To celebrate the end of the 2023-2024 school year, we held SMMS Carnival Day on May 24. Our goal was to end the year on a positive note to highlight all of our good experiences this year.
