Berkeley County Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Brandon Burkhart as principal of Mountain Ridge Middle School following the Special Board of Education Meeting on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.
Mr. Burkhart is returning to BCS following more than 15 years of experience as a professional educator, serving as an assistant principal for Shenandoah County Public Schools, Virginia, since 2016. Mr. Burkhart began his career as a BCS teacher in 2009.
Burkhart holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Education from Shepherd University and a Masters of Administration and Supervision from American Public University.
"I look forward to working with and meeting the staff, students, parents and other MRMS community members," said Burkhart. I have heard great things about the staff and students and look forward to building those relationships throughout this year and beyond."
My goal for this year is to have a positive learning culture that leads to success academically, socially and emotionally," he continued. "We are going to work to make Mountain Ridge Middle School a dynamic school for all students and I look forward to getting started. "
We are excited to welcome Brandon back to Berkeley County Schools," said Holly Kleppner, BCS Executive Director of Secondary Education. "He is a vested member of the South Berkeley community and will make a smooth transition at Mountain Ridge Middle School."
"One of Brandon's strength lies in data analysis," continued Kleppner. "He is excited to focus on instruction and work to increase student's academic success at MRMS."
