Monday- September 30: Detroit Lions Spirit Day
And....Picture Day!
We clearly should have cross-checked the Detroit Lions football schedule when we booked our Fall Picture Day with Lifetouch last spring! Nonetheless, students are invited to wear Detroit Lions Gear for part/all of the day, as their parents see fit (given the conflict with Picture Day). Students are welcome to bring Lions t-shirt/hoodie/jersey to throw on after their school pictures are taken, or they can wear Lions gear/Honolulu Blue for their pictures!
Tuesday, October 1- Detroit Tigers Spirit Day
Fall Fundraiser- Final Days!
All Donations Due By Tuesday, October 1
We want to send a huge, huge thank you to the many families who have raised money for our school!
This is, by far, our biggest fundraising event of the year. Our goal is to raise $15,000. In order to do so, we've encouraged all families to try to raise at least $50.00 for our school. The funds raised will be used to help fund school activities, recess/play equipment, the school store, and more!
On Tuesday, October 1, all donations are due for our fundraiser.
If you'd still like to donate, set up your child's account on FundHub by utilizing the link and school identifier below!
Edison Family Game Night- This Thursday, October 3
All Families Are Welcome To Attend
On Thursday, October 3, we will be hosting Edison Family Game Night, brought to us by Learning Gizmos. This event will take place from 5:30PM-6:30PM in Edison''s gym. During this event, students travel through the gym with their families, trying out a wide variety of games. The games are available for purchase during the event.
Flyers were sent out last week, with an RSVP requested by Monday, September 30 (to ensure your coupon for a free game). This is a free event! All families are encouraged to attend and drop-ins will be welcome at the door!
The first 75 families (which will include all those that RSVP'd by September 30th, along with any lingering drop-in families until we reach 75) will receive a coupon for a free game.
We hope to see you there!
Fraser Public Schools- Strategic Plan Survey & Community Meeting
Please Take Community Survey Using Link Below
We are excited to embark on the creation of our 2025-2030 Strategic Plan—a roadmap that will shape the next five years of excellence in Fraser Public Schools. This plan will continue to focus on our strong traditions of excellence by staying committed to our core values and beliefs - Innovate, Learn, Lead.
To ensure this plan reflects the needs and aspirations of all stakeholders, we are launching a community survey to gather input. The survey will remain open through October 1st, and we encourage all families, staff, students, and community members to share their thoughts. This is your chance to help shape the future of Fraser Public Schools, and we want to hear from you!
In addition, we will be holding a Community & Parent Meeting to kick off the strategic planning process on October 1 at 6 pm in the Fraser High School Media Center.
Canvas- Parent Sign Up/Support Opportunities
Canvas- Parent Access Sessions
Parents, if you're interested in receiving help accessing Canvas and/or creating parent accounts, we're trying to offer multiple opportunities, in the coming weeks, for parents to come in to receive assistance with accessing Canvas.
This week, we have Canvas: Parent Access Sessions taking place during specific timeframes on Thursday and Friday. Limited spots are available. Click the link below to sign up.
Please plan to arrive on time for your scheduled session and bring at least one device, if possible (phone, laptop, ipad, etc).
'Size of the Problem' Conversations at Edison
Potential Common Language For Home/School
This year, our PBIS team of teachers has worked hard to establish common language for many SEL topics at Edison.
One such topic is around 'The Size of the Problem'. Students are encouraged to consider the 'Size of the Problem' for the diverse social situations that they encounter. The hope is that students choose a reaction to their problem that helps to make the problem smaller. If a student's reaction is bigger than the size of the problem, the problem usually becomes bigger.
Students at Edison really respond well to this discussion topic, so we wanted to share it with our families in case you could benefit from using common language in your households.
Many of our staff members utilize this language at home with their families too!

Parking Lot Reminders
Please Do Not Park/Idle/Stop in Marked Areas
- Unfortunately, we don’t have a “bus loop” at Edison, which also limits our ability for a curbside drop off/pick up lane. Our transportation department needs us to stop stopping/parking/idling in the areas marked with a red 'x' (essentially, every turn/curve of the lot) because the busses cannot get through.
- Please park in a designated parking spot at arrival and dismissal, while you wait to drop off/pick up your children.
- All Y5-2nd grade students must be picked up by an adult at their doors.
- 3rd-6th grade students are dismissed out their doors and may navigate the parking lot as their parents see fit. Please note, our staff does our best to help kids cross when possible, but we do not have designated crossing guards in our lot. The safest option will always be for parents to park, walk up, drop off/retreive their child(ren), and navigate the lot with their child(ren).
- At dismissal time, please don’t sit idle in driving lane while waiting for your student.
PTO Updates
Introducing Our PTO Officers
This year, our PTO will be led by the following officers. As always, we're so appreciative of the parents that take time out of their lives to enrich ours! Please consider joining forces with the amazing moms below to help make Edison a happier place!

- Vice President: Lisa Heckman
- Treasurer: Cierra Prophit
- Secretary: Melissa Loder
Our next PTO Meeting will take place on Thursday, November 14 at 6:00PM in the Edison Media Center.
A Few School Policies & Procedures To Make Note Of:
Attendance
Your child's lifelong school/work attendance habits are being deeply established right now. Parents should make every effort to get their child to school by 8:30AM each day and allow them to stay for the full duration of every day. Excessive absences, tardies, and early dismissals hugely impact a child's confidence, social interactions, and school performance.
Birthday Treats
Birthday students may bring store-bought, individually wrapped treats/snacks or trinkets to distribute to their classmates to be taken home. Please do not send in a tray of cupcakes, homemade baked goods, pizza, etc intending for them to be consumed at school- as many students have dietary restrictions that need to be closely monitored by their parents & school staff. All treats/trinkets will be sent home with students.
Cell Phones
Hot Food Deliveries
Please do not plan to drop off "hot lunches" for your child at lunch time. This includes parents/family members dropping off fast food and/or Door Dashing food for their children. It is very logistically challenging to ensure that your child receives the food delivery on time and often results in students spending much of their lunch period awaiting a delivery.
Free and Reduced Meals
The State of Michigan will provide a free breakfast and lunch for all students who want them throughout the 2024-2025 school year. Although not required, we do ask that families complete the Education Benefit Form located HERE. By doing so you help ensure the school receives additional funding.
